It is with great thought and care that I have made the decision to stop working as a childminder.

It has been a job that has been filled with so much laughter and fun, but also with major challenges that I had not anticipated.

August will be my last month as a childminder. I am equally sad about saying goodbye to the children I care for and excited about what the future holds for me.

Out of respect for the children and families I have looked after I will be removing all their photos from my social media accounts and then closing down the accounts.

Thank you all for your support and engagement with my accounts; it was always appreciated.

Just before we shut over half term, Wild at Heart Childminding had its first quality assurance inspection. As we are registered with Tiney these inspections take the place of Ofsted inspections.

We are pleased to announce that Wild at Heart Childminding received a grade of “Good”. 🥳🥳

More sensory bin fun around our colour theme. This time the base was red lentils (they were quite orange, so red paint was added)

As it is Remembrance day at the weekend we investigated a few different types of poppies. 🌺

Bonfire and fireworks 💥

Last week was all about bonfires and fireworks. Our sensory bin was filled with black beans, a pom-pom bonfire 🔥 and some gold beads for the moon. As well as painting fireworks on black paper and adding sparkle to make it pop. ✨✨

Green day 🟢

We explored the colour green in our sensory bin. The children played with the green items in the sensory bin and we practised saying the word green at the level of each child’s language development. 🐸🌳🧩

To finish off the activity the children were asked to find something green in the room, all three were able to find a green item and bring it to me demonstrating their understanding of the colour.

The great outdoors ⛰️

We make an effort to get outside every day. It may be for a welly walk, or a trip to the park. But unless there is a weather warning we get out at least once.

The children find nature so fascinating. From investing leaves to crawling the the mud 🍂🍃; our little adventures make the most of each trip.

Through all of these experiences children are learning and developing. 📝

Part of the Early Years curriculum is understanding the life cycle of plants. 🌱

While we don’t teach them the complexities of photosynthesis 🔬, we can teach them that plants need water and light to live. 🔅

💦 By watering some of the indoor plants it also builds respect for other living things. Bringing nature indoors helps foster a sense of connection with the natural world.

Our little adventurers loved touching the different leaves and taking turns watering a plant each.
