What other environment would young teens be pushed out their comfort zone like this?

Recently I’ve had junior instructor Grace Mitchell in shadowing me with classes and learning how to coach. She recently helped out with her first adult class at only 14 years old. Teaching/Coaching anyone at any age is a skill that not many people will ever learn, so to be coaching an adults class at 14 years old is extraordinary, which posed me the question, which other environment outside of martial arts would your child/teen be pushed out their comfort zone like this? I can’t think of many.

Still a long way to go for Grace in her coaching journey but she’s making amazing progress every passing day. Well done Grace, super proud of you 💪🏻🥊

Could your child be our next junior leader in years to come? DM us to get started 🥋

A few weeks ago, we had Marco Prentice stepping in the ring for the third time this year. His first fight at the start of the year he lost but we learned loads. His second fight was improvement again and although we thought he won, it was judged a draw. Going into this third fight I was desperate for him to win. It takes alot of character to get in the ring for a third time and put it all on the line to chase that win. With a massive crowd behind him as always, it was a high pressure moment in Marco’s boxing career, but wow did this boy deliver. A clinical performance from round 1 to 3. At no point was Marco ever in trouble or fazed the full fight, he showed tremendous composure in there and boxed beautifully, getting behind his jab and stepping in and out of range with beautiful sharp shots to dominate his opponent start to finish. I am so proud of this young man to finally get that win after a few setbacks. Absolute elite level of mentality he showed and I am immensely proud as a coach, his best performance to date. The best of it is, I still think there’s more to come for Marco…

Our Superstar ⭐️ Grace Mitchell 🥊

A few weeks ago, Grace stepped in the ring to defend her European title against Pheobe Ballard, an opponent we faced 3x times last year and lost all 3 times. Going into this one Grace and I both knew this was going to be her toughest fight to date. To even get in the ring in the first place against a girl who has beaten you 3x times the previous year shows an incredible level of courage and bravery. But to do what she done next is unthinkable. Grace went to war against this girl over 5x rounds and managed to come away with the best win of her career in a very close fight. For so long up til now, we always used Pheobe as a reference point. After the first set of fights with Pheobe I chatted with Grace and told her that’s the level you can get to, we just need to put in the work. For her to come away with the win last night was not only her biggest achievement yet, but also mines. For so long I promised myself to get Grace to the level of Pheobe where she can fight and compete with her, and for her to get the win lastnight just reassured me that what we are doing up in Netherburn is special. I wish I could take credit for it and say it was down to coaching but unfortunately I can’t. This win was solely down to Grace. The time she puts in the gym and the mindset she has developed these past few months is bulletproof. I am so so proud of her for that win. Grace has an elite level skillset and has now shown her elite level mentality. The sky is the limit for Grace and she has her eye on the ultimate prize next… WKA world title shot hopefully coming soon 🌍

🥊 Lewis Stewart representing Netherburn

Second competitive fight for Lewis since joining us just 6 months ago. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be this time as Lewis lost a split decision in a very close and evenly matched fight. But, as always, Lewis brought a crowd and left absolutely everything in the ring.

If there’s one thing guaranteed when Lewis fights… it’s violence 🤣

You win or you learn in this game. Plenty to take from this one and plenty more to come. Well done Lewis on a tremendous effort. 💪🏻
