Another fantastic team trained in Emergency First Aid at Work!💚

Another year, another opportunity to meet new faces, welcome back some familiar ones, and refresh those all important first aid skills.

The team are now better prepared and more confident to respond in an emergency, helping to keep their students, colleagues, and themselves safe when it matters most.

It’s always a pleasure to see staff getting stuck into the training and recognising just how important these skills are. Well done, everyone! 👏⛑️

🎉 5 YEARS OF ABOVE ALL FIRST AID! 🎉

Today I’m taking a moment to celebrate something that I’m incredibly proud of… Above All First Aid is 5! 💚

Five years ago, I started this business from scratch, with a vision to provide high-quality, engaging and practical first aid training and honestly, I don’t think I could have imagined just how much it would grow.

Over the last five years, I’ve developed not only Above All First Aid, but myself too. I’ve continued to expand my own knowledge and training, developed new skills and experiences, and grown both professionally and personally.

Alongside running my business, I’m incredibly proud to be a First Responder with NWAS and an ECA, experiences which have given me so much valuable knowledge that I can bring into my training and share with the people I teach.

But behind the business is also me, a mum of two and a wife to my amazing husband. Balancing family life, a business, my own training and responding to emergencies hasn’t always been easy, but every challenge has helped shape the person and instructor I am today. 🤍

Most importantly, I want to say a HUGE thank you to every single person who has been part of this journey.🫶🏻

To those who believed in me when I was just starting out.
To those who recommended me to friends, colleagues and businesses.
To everyone who has supported, encouraged and cheered me on.
To every business, organisation and individual who has trusted me to deliver their first aid training.
And to every single learner who has walked through the door, got involved and trusted me to teach them potentially life-saving skills…

Why we train all our Dunky’s staff in Paediatric First Aid.
When you leave your child at a day nursery, you're placing your trust in a team of professionals to care for them, nurture them and keep them safe.
While every parent hopes their child will never need emergency care, accidents and illnesses can happen, especially when children are busy exploring, learning and playing.
That's why paediatric first aid training is such an essential part of the staff training we give all our team at Dunky’s.
We have worked with Above All First Aid, run by Zoe Weaver, for over five years.
Zoe believes that first aid training shouldn't be intimidating: it should be interactive, memorable and enjoyable. This philosophy helps learners retain critical knowledge while building the confidence to act decisively during emergencies, whether they happen in the workplace, in schools or at home.
She regularly comes into Dunky’s to train all of our staff on paediatric and early years first aid. She has also developed a new allergy awareness course ahead of Benedict’s Law, the name given to new allergy safety requirements for schools in England, which our staff are going on. It is named after Benedict Blythe, a five-year-old boy who died from anaphylaxis at school in 2021, following a campaign by his family to strengthen allergy protection in schools.
Zoe, who worked in a pre-school setting in Cheshire for 14 years before setting up her own business, said: “To learn first aid is crucial. Little accidents happen around us every now and then, but basic knowledge of first aid can help you a lot in an emergency
“All our courses are industry recognised and come with a certificate that is valid for three years. It’s lovely to pop back in to Dunky’s Day Nurseries & Forest Schools to top up their skills and to train new people who have joined the business.
“As a nursery they’re looking after a parent’s most prized assets – their children – so it’s so important to have the highest quality first aid training.”
Lesley Foulkes, Recruitment Manager for Dunky’s Day Nurseries, said: “We have been working with Zoe for over 5 years now and she completes all our Paediatric First Aid Training.
“Our teams really enjoy her style of interactive training as she makes them feel really comfortable and we always receive great feedback about her courses from our team.
“We like to have every member of staff completing paediatric first aid – from our nursery staff to our chefs and management team - because we know how important it is. Zoe trains our new staff within 2 months of them starting and existing staff renew their qualification every 3 years.
“At Dunky’s, we believe, and ensure that that all our staff are trained in First Aid to prepare for any scenario which may occur in the nursery.”

Another fantastic Emergency First Aid at Work course completed yesterday! 👏

It was a pleasure training such a wonderful group who were engaged, enthusiastic, and eager to learn life-saving skills. From dealing with emergencies and performing CPR to using a defibrillator and managing common workplace incidents, everyone got stuck in and did an amazing job.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and worked so hard. Congratulations on successfully completing your training, you should all be proud of yourselves! 💚⛑️

Remember, first aid isn’t just a qualification, it’s a skill that could one day save a life!
