We love reading at The Lewis School; Just 20 minutes a day can make a huge difference!

To mark Refugee Week last week, Year 7 students participated in an online creative writing event hosted by the , with author Sita Brahmachari and poet Hamida Khoder. Using inspiration from the event, alongside our class novel, The Bone Sparrow by Zana Fraillon, students crafted original poetry centered on this year’s theme: Courage.

Their writing explores the challenges faced by refugees, personal definitions of courage, and moments where they found courage in their own lives. We are incredibly proud of their empathy, insight, and creativity. Please enjoy this small sample of their work below!
