Fire Safety & Campfires 🪵🔥

To round off our topic on fire safety and campfires, the children enjoyed learning all about how to stay safe around fire and why it is important to follow safety rules.

We talked about keeping a safe distance, listening carefully to adults, and never touching matches or lighters. The children showed great understanding throughout our discussions and activities.

To celebrate the end of our topic, the children gathered around our little campfire at nursery and enjoyed toasting marshmallows. 🍡🔥 It was a wonderful opportunity for them to experience a campfire in a safe and supervised environment while putting their learning into practice.

What a fantastic way to end our topic, creating special memories together whilst learning important life skills! ❤️

At Edenfield Nursery, we are excited to have introduced regular exercise and stretching sessions as part of our curriculum. Through fun and engaging activities, the children are developing their strength, balance, coordination and overall wellbeing while learning the importance of keeping active.

Encouraging healthy habits from an early age is more important than ever. Recent data shows that Pendle has one of the highest rates of overweight and obesity. A huge thank you to our fantastic fitness coach for delivering these fun and engaging sessions and inspiring the children to enjoy being active! 👏💚 .ness

The children have been learning all about our community heroes, with a special focus on doctors and nurses and the amazing work they do to help keep us healthy and safe.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the role play area, taking turns to be doctors, nurses, patients, and receptionists. They have been busy caring for one another, bandaging injuries, checking temperatures, and discussing how healthcare professionals help us when we are unwell.

Alongside role play, the children have taken part in a range of activities that have encouraged them to develop their communication skills, empathy, and understanding of the important roles people play within our community.

We also had a lovely moment during our Stay and Play session when the children had the opportunity to care for one of our dads who joined us! They showed fantastic nurturing skills as they checked on him, offered treatment, and made sure he was feeling better. It was wonderful to see their empathy, confidence, and enthusiasm for looking after others in action. 🩺

Today we were delighted to welcome a dentist to nursery to talk to the children about the importance of looking after their teeth. The children learned about healthy teeth, how to brush correctly, and why it is important to brush twice a day.

Good oral health is so important, especially as tooth decay remains a significant concern for many children in Pendle. By introducing positive habits from an early age, we can help children develop lifelong routines that support healthy smiles and overall wellbeing.

The children enjoyed asking questions, learning about dental care, and practising good brushing techniques. Thank you to our visitor for helping us raise awareness and encourage healthy habits in a fun and engaging way!😁🪥🦷

Today, the children had a special visit from the Police, who came into nursery to talk to us about road safety and how they help to keep our community safe. 🚦🛑

The children loved asking questions, learning about staying safe near roads, and exploring the important role of the police in our everyday lives.

Thank you to our special visitors for such an engaging and informative experience! 💙

In “Oliver’s Vegetables”, the children discovered how vegetables are grown and how exciting it can be to try new foods fresh from the garden! Just like Oliver in “Oliver’s Vegetables”, we prepared our very own vegetables for snack time! 🥔🥕🌿

The children helped eagerly from beginning to end, washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing our delicious roasted potatoes, carrots, and parsnips ready to cook. They were so excited to see how the vegetables changed as they cooked and even more excited to taste them afterwards!
It was wonderful to see the children enjoying wholesome, fresh food and feeling so proud of the snack they had helped to make themselves.
