Holy Saviour RC Primary School

Holy Saviour RC Primary School Holy Saviour School was built in 1970 to serve the parish of Holy Saviour Nelson. It is a thriving school with strong links to our parish of St John Southworth.

Holy Saviour has a strong tradition and good reputation within our community and many of our current parents came here as pupils themselves. The majority of our pupils are Roman Catholic, however, we do welcome pupils from all faiths. Holy Saviour is a 'feeder' primary school for Ss. John Fisher and Thomas More High School in Colne. Holy Saviour is a one form entry school with seven classes in tot

al and we currently have 209 pupils on our school role. The teachers are hardworking and dedicated to providing a high quality Catholic education for all our pupils. Working alongside our teachers there is also a wonderful team of teaching assistants, office staff and lunchtime supervisors.

Y6 Pendle Fun Day:

Just before the school holidays, we decided to take all of our Year 6 children down to Seedhill for Pendle Fun Day.

We started our morning off by learning some cricket skills at Nelson and Colne College. The children got really into it and their competitive streak came out 💪

We then moved onto activities at Seedhill. We took part in climbing, bowls, Jag Tag, the music van and archery 🏹

Lastly, we finished it with a fabulous colour run (we are so sorry parents!!!!) 🫟🫟🫟🫟 and a refreshing ice cream 🍦

It was a fabulous day all round 😊

What’s better than a fantastic netball team? Two fantastic netball teams!

We decided to enter two netball teams into the league this year as we have such keen and talented children here at Holy Saviour.

Team A played such brilliant netball. It was excellent to see great levels of teamwork, communication and skill throughout the court. In the end, they came away with 3 out of 4 wins and a whopping 21 goals scored!!!!!

Team B who competed for the first time, really grew into their games. At first, we took a little time to learn the rules (which are very tricky!) but after that, we started to pass and move the ball really well and managed to get some wins under our belt!

I was SO proud of you all for working so tirelessly for eachother.

A HUGE shout out to our two wonderful parents for helping to organise the teams whilst Mrs Green tried to whizz between the two. You did a fantastic job and really helped the team to succeed! 👏

6 of our children were lucky enough to enjoy a morning at Pendle Vale College, taking part in a Jag Tag skills event. A huge thanks to Nick and his team at Edstart Sports Coaching for putting together such a fab event, ready in preparation for our tournament next week 💪

The children were fantastic as always and showed such determination and confidence with their play. We are very proud and can’t wait for next week!

Y4 Golf: 9 wonderful children attended a golf event at Pendle Vale College on Wednesday.

They showed such determination and focus when learning new skills such as chipping and putting. As a team, they secured so many points! The most of the night in fact, and therefore, we walked away winners!!!!

They also showed such wonderful sportsmanship and because of this, they won ‘Spirit of the Games’ - the award for the team with the most points for teamwork, kindness and encouraging team mates. I am so unbelievably proud of you all.

Girls football:

Last week, 7 of our wonderful girls attended their final night of playing in the Pendle Football League.

First of all, I am VERY proud because .. we scored some fabulous goals!!!!! I can’t believe the confidence that they went into games with and then coming away unbeaten for the night! Amazing!

It was a really proud moment and a fantastic way to end their primary school football journey. I hope to see you all continuing to play at high school!

Mixed netball team:

Last week, our netball team had their first match of the league. It was a tough game against St Thomas but they came away with a 2-0 win. Next up was Park and we found our rhythm; they dominated the game, finishing 7-0! Then we won 3-1 against Trawden, setting up a tense finale against Sacred Heart. It was a well fought match but we just managed to come away victorious and it ended 4-3!

I am honestly astounded at their amazing run of games and managing to finish the night unbeaten, especially with it being their first time playing together!

I am SO proud of you all. Let’s go again next term! 💪

Three of our Y6 boys attended a Darts competition at Skylight Darts - Colne .
After 9 games, only one was lost and therefore, the boys came away victorious! We are lucky to have such a fantastic and talented set of children in Year 6 who really do show that talent, a mature and positive mindset plus great work ethic will get you far! It can be tough playing in front of so many children, parents and staff but to keep the composure that you all did, is really applaudable.

One of the boys even managed to beat multiple members of staff on the night .. 🤭

It was the second evening of the league for our girls football team on Wednesday. They showed great spirit and resilience to keep going, even when against tough opposition - they really are such a fabulous bunch and we feel very lucky to have them at our school! We saw some brilliant goalkeeping and managed to get a few shots on target but we unfortunately couldn’t get the ball in the back of the net! The goals will come girls, we just have to keep going! 💪

I am really proud of you all. Let’s go again this week to play our last ever games of primary school 🥲🫶

We had a lovely trip out to Alkincoats Park with these wonderful four children. We attended a Crown Green Bowling event run by the fantastic Philip Wright Crown Green Bowling Academy. It was a brilliant morning where our children were learning new skills and by the end of it, they were managing to get it bang on the target! We are so lucky to have this on our door step and love going at this time of year!

Well done for showing fantastic resilience, especially because it is a very hard technique to learn👏👏
