WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
You might have seen our adverts for people to join our preschool committee recently, or signed up but not made it to a meeting. You might feel you haven’t got the time to get involved or you simply don't know what the committee actually is!

Hopefully this will help you understand the committee is essential to the running of Needingworth Community Pre-School. An added bonus is that friendships and lots of memories have been formed by people spending time on the committee together.

So how does our preschool committee actually work?
We are a committee led preschool legally required to have a functioning committee made up of parents & carers. The committee works alongside the manager of the preschool. Certain key roles we have to have-like a chairperson, treasurer and secretary, but general members are essential to making sure all aspects of the preschool can run effectively.

Simply put- If we do not fill the key roles or have a significant percentage of current parents involved in the committee, we will be required to call an 'extraordinary meeting' (an emergency meeting.) If the roles are still not filled, the preschool would possibly have to close. Your involvement really matters!

If you are able to get involved in the preschool and in particular with fundraising, please speak to our manager Dawn or chairperson Rachael Beeton You would be working alongside others with great support and are not expected to be an expert-but we do need people who can coordinate getting things done!

We would like to thank you all for your support of our preschool - it does not go unnoticed or unappreciated, but we would ask you seriously consider whether you could be more involved.

Our pre-school AGM is coming up soon!

We really need a couple more committee members to keep Needingworth Community Pre-School up and running. Without the committee we risk having no pre-school at all😳

All are welcome- the meeting is short, we’re a friendly bunch and we look forward to seeing you there 😁

Our pre school is a registered charity and committee run. We are always looking for more voluntary members to support us. Committee roles don’t require a huge commitment and are really rewarding (& more importantly fun!) Read more to find out how this works…….

News and updates on early years inspection

01/10/2022

The official government e-petition against plans to relax early years ratios in England has reached 100,000. The milestone means that the petition must now be considered for a debate in Parliament.

The petition was started by Zoe and Lewis Steeper, whose son Oliver tragically died after an incident at a nursery a year ago today.

Commenting, Neil Leitch, CEO of the Early Years Alliance, said:

“The fact that this petition has now reached 100,000 signatures clearly shows how worried both providers and parents are about the likely impact of proposed ratios changes on the early years sector in England.

“Let's be clear: changing ratios is a mindless policy that will do more harm than good to a sector already on its knees. These changes have been falsely sold as a cost-saving measure when, as our own research shows, it will do little – if anything – to deliver savings to parents. Instead, all these proposals will do is put the quality of care and early education children receive at risk, and place even more pressure on an already-overburdened workforce in the middle of a staffing crisis.

“Given the complete lack of appetite for any changes demonstrated by the success of this petition, it’s clear that this issue must be now debated in Parliament as a matter of urgency.

“We would like to thank Zoe and Lewis Steeper who, during a time of unimaginable personal tragedy, have campaigned tirelessly and selflessly to highlight this issue. We are very proud to join them in calling for the government to scrap this ridiculous policy before it has a disastrous and irreversible impact on our vital sector.”
