Jigsaw Pre-School, Needham Market

This morning the staff at Jigsaw have been busy setting up the garden and play room ready for the children's return on Thursday, here are a few photos of some of our areas ....

The inside of the playroom has been fully repainted with new internal doors as well as a brand new carpet which has really given the setting a warm & modern feel.

We are sure the children will love to explore our new home corner ~ we are particularly pleased with how homely and cosy it feels 🙂

Outside photos will follow on Thursday as the builders are currently laying the coloured rubber crumb under our canopy and new play equipment.

WOW ...

What a transformation so far, our new play equipment and outside canopy are now installed ready for the coloured rubber crumb to be installed next week. Our 'road' around the garden has also been given a new lease of life ready for the children to enjoy once we return at the start of term.

Full transformation photos (inside and out) will follow next week when all works have been finished and the pre-school is set up 🙂

At Jigsaw, children are learning all the time — not just when they are being taught something by an adult.

The Characteristics of Effective Learning form an important part of the EYFS and help us understand how children learn, rather than simply what they learn.

There are three main ways children learn:

🧩 Playing and Exploring

Children learn by being curious, having a go and exploring new things.

This might mean investigating how something works, trying out different ideas or using resources in their own way. Children need opportunities to explore without worrying about getting something “right”.

💪 Active Learning

Children learn when they are motivated, involved and willing to keep trying.

Learning can sometimes be challenging! Children develop confidence and resilience when they are encouraged to have another go, solve problems and feel proud of their achievements.

💭 Creating and Thinking Critically
Children learn by having their own ideas, making choices, solving problems and thinking about different ways of doing things.

They don't always need an adult to give them the answer. Sometimes the best learning happens when children are given time to think, test their ideas and work things out for themselves
