Melin Childcare & Flying Start Playgroup We offer good quality childcare for children aged 2-11 years.We have 2 sites- 1 based on Herbert Road The aim of our playgroups is to provide quality childcare.

The objectives are to offer a range of play and learning activities in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We offer a quality indoor and outdoor environment, lots of opportunities for your child to explore, discover and be curious about their world, whilst supporting their development and social skills ready for Nursery and School. "We can help with behaviour, speech, potty training, sleep patterns and tooth brushing." "You can be safe in the knowledge that your child will be cared for in a safe stimulating environment"

We are currently working towards the 'Healthy and Sustainable Pre School Scheme' at our childcare site after achieving this at our Flying Start setting- We offer a range of healthy snacks. Flying Start only use fully qualified, experienced and police checked staff. We are fully insured and registered with CIW. We are sited in the demountable classrooms at the Rear of Melin Primary School, Herbert Road and in the demountable classoom at Melin Primary School, KS2 site, access off Walters Road. 🌱🪴 Our gardening journey has officially begun! 🪴🌱

The children have been busy getting themselves gardening ready and helping us plant our first vegetables — potatoes 🥔, radishes and broad beans! 🌱

We’re so excited to watch them grow and give the children the opportunity to learn about where our food comes from, caring for plants and watching them change over time. We’ll be watering, checking and looking after our plants together and can’t wait to see what happens! 💚🌿

Last week💫

🍂🎃 What a lovely week of autumn fun we’ve had! 🎃🍂

We may be a little early with the Halloween decorating, but we just couldn’t resist! We’re loving all the autumn feelings at the setting. 🧡 The children have enjoyed lots of autumn-themed tuff trays, exploring pumpkin patches, painting acorns and getting creative with our new loose parts.

We’ve also been busy building with wooden blocks, exploring our local area and spotting lots of different animals along the way. 🐿️🍁 The children loved collecting acorns, sticks and conkers during our walks, as well as enjoying some fun trips to the park. 🌳

So many opportunities for exploring, creating, using our imaginations and enjoying the outdoors together! 🍂🤎

💫🎃More of this week!💫🎃

We’ve had lots of fun, exploring, creating and learning through play this week! ❤️

🚂 We’ve enjoyed lots of train fun, using our imaginations and creating our own little journeys.

🥕 We’ve been getting hands on with vegetable cutting, using our children’s knives to safely explore different vegetables including parsnips, leeks, carrots and potatoes. The children enjoyed talking about the different colours, textures, shapes and smells while developing their independence and fine motor skills.

🎃 We took a little walk to our local Lidl to choose some pumpkins for our setting, giving the children the opportunity to explore our local community and practise road safety along the way.

We got creative with painting sticks on our large curtain sheet, encouraging lots of mark-making, creativity and big movements.🎨🫟

💦 Even though autumn is here, we couldn’t resist some water play – it’s always a favourite! We also enjoyed messy gloop play, exploring its unusual texture and how it moved through our hands.

🍂 Our autumn-themed play continued with autumn pasta, play dough creations and lots of car play.

It’s been a lovely week filled with opportunities to explore, make choices, build independence and develop new skills – all through the power of play. 🥰
