Watching this video makes me feel so proud to be part of the Ysgol Maes y Coed school community.

I am incredibly proud to be the Vice Chair of the PTFA for such an amazing school, and even more grateful to be a parent of a child who attends.

Ysgol Maes y Coed is such a special place, filled with incredible pupils, staff, families and support. It is lovely to see the school recognised and celebrated in this way.

As the 2025/2026 academic year comes to a close and we approach a new academic year in September, please have a think and let us know if you have any suggestions for activities for our pupils or fundraising ideas for next year 🫶.

Everyone is welcome, including parents, carers, teachers, grandparents, staff and other community members.

There will be 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗲𝗮, 𝗰𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗶𝘁𝘀, because no meeting should happen without a hot drink and snacks.

We will be appointing new committee members, discussing volunteer opportunities and looking at future event ideas and requests for the year ahead.

Whether you would like to take on a PTFA role, volunteer when you can, share ideas, or simply find out more about what we do, we would love to see you there.

After such a fantastic day at this year’s tournament, we are so excited to be doing it all again next year!

This year’s champions were the brilliant Resolven Hillbetties - Women’s touch rugby team. Will they keep the title next year, or will we have a new champion? 👀🏆

We were also blown away by the incredible fundraising achieved at the 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 last weekend, where three of our school players took part for their club teams. Seeing what can be achieved when a community comes together has inspired us even more.

We have a vision to raise as much as we can in the same way Swansea Bay Health Charity did for their goal. For our pupils to access education, equipment, experiences and our 𝟭𝟵 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝟭𝟵 initiative, it costs so much more to support them properly. That is why we are looking at bigger, community-led ways to fundraise and make a real difference.

Every team that enters helps us support pupils with profound and multiple learning disabilities and complex needs, while also creating a brilliant day of rugby, friendship and community spirit.

After the huge success of this year’s tournament at Glynneath Rfc, we are already looking ahead to 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿 and would love to start 𝗴𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 from teams who may like to join us again.

This year was such an amazing day, with brilliant teams, a fantastic atmosphere, our much-loved team wristbands, a surprise appearance from 𝗠𝗮𝘅 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝗰𝗲, and over £𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 raised for 𝗬𝘀𝗴𝗼𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝗲𝘀 𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗧𝗙𝗔.

A huge well done again to this year’s winners, Resolven Hillbetties - Women’s touch rugby team, and runners-up, Seven Sisters Stormers Seven Sisters RFC. What a brilliant final and such a lovely way to finish the day.

We also want to give another huge thank you to 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆 𝟰𝗣𝗠, who sponsored this year’s tournament and helped cover our kit, trophies and other set-up costs. Also to MAC In-Sight Photography for giving up their time to photograph our tournament 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲!! Their support made a huge difference to what we were able to achieve on the day.

Please join us for our Paint Along next Wednesday. Events like this are what keep us being able to fund all the wonderful experiences our young people can access. This year alone we have had visits to Harry Potter Studio's, Mondo Pixar and Bubble Planet, created our own Bubble planet in school, had a visiting Petting Zoo, and visiting theatre company. Fundraising will cover the costs for Prom and funds fuel for the minibuses. Without your support none of this would be possible for our young people.
