If your child has a fever, they should stay home and only return to school or childcare settings when they feel better.

Flu and Covid-19 are currently circulating, and your child must be protected against winter illnesses to help stop their spread.

Extreme Hot Weather 18/07/2022

HEATWAVE - Monday and Tuesday

Amber weather warnings are in place for Monday and Tuesday this week for extreme heat.

At the moment, PALS will be open as usual and we are taking steps to keep children as cool and comfortable as possible during this time. Please dress children in light coloured, loose clothing and remember to pack spare clothing, sun hats and sun lotion (preferably SPF50+ but no lower than SPF30).

We will be:

- Keeping children shaded and indoors during peak hours if it's cooler
- topping up sun lotion and wearing hats outdoors
- We are creating shady nooks with a gazebo, dens and umbrellas
- Lots of water play, including water balloon games and spray bottles
- Keeping window blinds down and doors and windows open
- Ensuring children remain hydrated with plenty of fluids

We will monitor the situation and keep a close eye on the children in our care. Children cannot control their body temperature as efficiently as adults during hot weather because they do not sweat as much and so can be at risk of ill-health from heat. We may ask you to come and collect your child if they develop signs or heat-stoke or heat stress.

Here is the guidance we have been issued by Public Health Wales (PHW) - I have attached it for your information as it has some useful advice and information on it as to what to do if you child becomes ill.

Raffle Update

Wow.

When we started, we hoped to raise £50, the amount of money needed to feed a Ukranian refugee family for one month. Thanks to your generosity, this evening, I was able to send a donation of £212.00 to DEC! Thank you SO much to everyone who contributed. It far surpassed all our hopes and gave the aunties a little rush of excitement with every ticket we sold.

The winning numbers were drawn - lottery style - during afterschool club today. They are 6-8-9 and 3-1-3; check your tickets! I will message the winners on Monday to arrange the best time to drop off your prizes.

Congratulations to our prize winners and thank you ALL for your support.
