As we approach the 60th anniversary of the Aberfan disaster, this is a story that deserves to be heard.
On 21 October 1966, Jeff Edwards OBE was just eight years old. He was the last child to be brought out of Pantglas Junior School alive.
Nearly 60 years on, Jeff has devoted much of his life to ensuring that what happened at Aberfan is never forgotten, while fighting for survivors, challenging injustice and helping communities affected by tragedy.
We were incredibly privileged to welcome Jeff to our latest Breakfast Serial event in partnership with Hensol Castle.
In a deeply moving and remarkably open conversation, he shares his memories of that day and speaks about the lifelong impact of trauma and survivor guilt, but also about leadership, public service, community resilience and the importance of creating something positive for future generations.
One message in particular stayed with us:
“Make a difference, do something and make a difference to somebody’s life.”
