My nanna, Mrs Val Griffiths, who was cooking staff for approximately 30 years, and Mrs Burgess, the cook. Lovely memories, R.I.P both 💕💕
Cynlais school/Ysgol Cynlais
I created this page as an ex pupil of the school, to enable fellow ex pupils /teachers to write their favourite memories, and to say how they feel about it's impending closure.

Gyda thristwch yn ddiweddar, clywsom am farwolaeth mrs Val Griffiths, aelod ffyddlon a gweithgar staff coginio Cynlais am flynyddoedd lawer. Roedd mrs Griffiths bpb amser yn siriol a charedig wrthom ni'r plant a mawr oedd ei pharch. Estynnwn cydymdeimlad dwysaf at y teulu oll yn ei galar. RIP Mrs Griffiths
The Urdd Eisteddfod taking place in Cardiff this week will jog memories for many Cynlais pupils. Does anyone have any photos /memories to share ?
On the 5th anniversary of his passing. "Ein Tad Nefol, diolchwn i Ti am Dy gariad mawr tuag atom. Helpa ni fod yn garedig wrth ein gilydd, er mwyn Iesu Grist, Amen" Cofiwn mr Hywel Jeffreys. "Gwnewch eich gorau a helpwch eich gilydd." His daily words of wisdom then, just as relevant for today.
Who remembers, and who was on the Cynlais school trip to Penscynor c 1971/72. The whole school, infants and juniors went. It was a great day out.
In accordance with long tradition, "Cofiwn am Ddewi Sant sy'n rhodio bryn a phant yn so^n am Iesu Grist wrth blant y byd. Diolchwn ninnau nawr i Dduw ein Brenin Mawr. O caned Nef a llawr am Ddewi Sant."
How many pupils of the 70s remember "Teganau" on a Friday afternoon in Infants school. Provided we were good[Os byddwch yn blant da!}, we were allowed to play with toys and sometimes bring in our own. Playing in mrs Jones's sandpit, or crawling through the "Caterpillar" were highlights.

Harvest time in Cynlais was always special and it was a pleasure to see the tables in the main hall laden with produce[fruit and veg] from people's gardens. Going to Yorath chapel's harvest thanksgiving was another ritual. "All good gifts around us are sent from Heaven above. So thank the Lord o thank the Lord for all His love." " Ar Ei drugaareddau yr ydym oll yn byw. Gan hynny dewch a llawenhewch, cand da yw Duw ."
