The message to my swim group this morning!
With many of you heading into open water over the summer, keep in mind the following advice.
If you get caught in a Rip current, you will know as you will not be able to swim against it.
Do not panic or swim against it (save energy).
Wave, Yell.
Swim parallel (to the shore).
When in an unknown location, swim with qualified coaches (don't be afraid to check credentials) and speak to the lifeguards 👍

Hi all 👋
We have availability left in our adult swim class at Cymmer swimming pool, Tues evening 8-9pm! £7 per session.
We have a lovely inclusive group of swimmers all working on their own goals. From novice, club to ultra, for wellbeing, technique and fitness.
The only requirements are goggles, ability to swim 2 lengths (2 x 25m) and a smile!

So your training has not gone according to plan. The stats are not where you wanted them to be and/or you didn't do all the sessions.... It doesn't matter!
Arriving at your event undertrained, armed with focus, grit and determination gives you scope to pull it out of the bag on race day.
Overcooking your body by overtraining and you will struggle to reach power through fatigue and a lack of focus.
Be proud on that start line. You made it.

The 4D Swim Squad looking good during their strength and technique session last week.
They have a great work ethic, each with their own goals and collectively when they come together, we get to watch some magic happen.

Adding aqua jogging to your training program is shown to be massively beneficial and often underestimated.
Great to build cardiovascular fitness and mobilises the same muscles as running but without the impact! Often used as cross training for runners and especially useful if you need to deload whilst recovering from a run injury.
