We are a small, friendly, rural primary school situated just outside Nantwich, Cheshire 🌟
We have extensive outdoor space, an onsite Forrest School and a warm, welcoming, inclusive school family. Sound & District Primary school is situated three miles south of the town of Nantwich, in a pleasant rural locality, catering for children aged from 4-11 years. The original Grade II listed building stil

l exists, and has been added to and extended over the years, marrying the old Victorian origins of the school to the new. Our school has extensive grounds including a playground, two large fields, one of which has games pitches and benches, a low adventure play area, an orchard (which has recently been revamped by The Kings Trust) and a wildlife garden. In April 2013, our new classroom was completed by Friends of Sound (our incredibly active and supportive PTA), as well as them providing the school with a car park on Wrenbury Heath road. Outdoor Fun offer an excellent provision for younger children on site, giving little ones experience of Forest School using the fantastic grounds we have available. Please visit https://www.outdoor-fun.org for more info. Rising Stars before and after school club is run in house by Sound School and is booked via school. We are a warm, caring school where staff and children work together in an atmosphere of respect and trust, and where the individuality of every child is valued. We believe that all children should be encouraged to fulfil their full potential intellectually, academically, creatively and emotionally and strive to ensure that our children develop high levels of self esteem and pride in their achievements. Furthermore, we believe that excellence is to be encouraged; from learning and playing together to setting high standards in our behaviour and conduct. We recognise that we can only achieve the best for all of our children by involving parents, carers and the wider community in every aspect of school life. The governors, staff and myself are committed to working in partnership and will provide frequent opportunities to share the progress our children are making and how we are working with them. We endeavour to ensure that every one of our children feels safe, happy and cared for in our school; that they become confident, articulate, caring members of our community and good citizens of the future.

We are delighted to announce that Sound and District Primary School has achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2025/26 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme, launched in 2012 and facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competitive sport within their school and the wider community. We are delighted to have been recognised for our success.

Our sporting achievements this year include competing in six county finals across athletics, netball, cricket and gymnastics, winning three and finishing as runners-up in another after a closely contested final.

With almost all of our KS2 pupils competing in local inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of their dedication to all aspects of school sport. This includes the young volunteers, leaders and officials whose hard work helped make our competitions possible.

As part of our application, we were required to meet criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs. We are delighted that the hard work and commitment of everyone at our school has been recognised through this award.

A special thank you goes to Mrs Dale, who has been instrumental in helping us achieve this award once again.

We look forward to applying again in 2027!

💪 Guess who visited Sound this week? Gladiator Steel!💪

We learned all about the power of positivity, maintaining a positive mindset and the importance of staying hydrated. Did you know that dehydration can reduce performance by up to 10%?

His message was simple but powerful: believe in yourself, stay confident, and go after your goals—whatever they are. What an amazingly inspiring and motivational visit! Wow! 🌟

Tough Runner has been a blast today! Every class has taken on the obstacles with determination and a smile on their faces. Even the teachers got stuck in (with the water hose! 🤣)

Parents…. we can’t wait to see you having a go at 3pm!! 😁

This week, Diamond Class visited the Runway Viewing Centre at Manchester Airport. We are learning about travel, seaside and holidays, and we will be looking at places that the children have visited.
During the trip, we were given a tour and classroom session, where we found out about people that work at the airport. We also got to dress up as pilots, firefighters and air traffic controllers. We enjoyed role playing as pilots in the cockpit of a real aeroplane. It was a fantastic day and we had a great time!
