GCSE results day is always a special day for everyone who works in a secondary school💙

We are immensely proud of our Year 11 students, who have collectively achieved an excellent set of results in 2026. These achievements reflect the determination, resilience and hard work of our students, together with the dedication of our staff and the support of families across our school community. The class of 2026 have shown real commitment throughout their GCSE courses and we are delighted that their efforts have been rewarded so positively.

There are a number of students who deserve special commendation. Several students achieved the very highest grades across a wide range of subjects, with many others achieving grades above their individual targets. These are exceptional achievements and represent many years of effort, focus and perseverance.

Overall, our students have secured a very strong set of outcomes, including a significant number of the higher grades at GCSE. We wish every student the very best as they take their next steps, whether they are continuing their studies at BL6, moving on to college, starting an apprenticeship or entering employment. Well done to every student in the class of 2026 — we are very proud of you✨

BL6 Celebrates Outstanding A Level Results in 2026✨

BL6 is delighted to celebrate another excellent set of A Level results for 2026. This year’s outcomes reflect the hard work, ambition and commitment of our students, supported throughout by the expertise of our staff and the encouragement of parents and carers.

Our students have achieved impressive results across a broad range of subjects, with many securing the higher grades needed to progress to their chosen next steps. These achievements are a strong reflection of the high expectations, positive relationships and academic culture that continue to underpin life at BL6.

Students from BL6 will now take up places at a wide range of universities and providers, including Russell Group institutions and highly competitive courses, alongside degree apprenticeships and employment routes. Their destinations reflect the breadth of talent, aspiration and opportunity within our sixth form.

We would like to thank our specialist A Level teachers and wider sixth form team for the care, subject expertise and individual support they have provided. We are also grateful to parents and carers for the important role they have played throughout the past two years.

We now look ahead to GCSE Results Day on Thursday 20 August 2026, when we hope to celebrate further success across the school. We are also looking forward to welcoming our next cohort of Year 12 students as they enrol and begin their journey with BL6💙

Congratulations to Lovell House, who have been crowned the overall winners of this year’s Interhouse competition!

Across the year, students have competed in a huge range of events, earning valuable points for their Houses through sport, music, drama, reading, charity initiatives, academic challenges and much more. Every point earned has contributed to a fantastic year of competition, participation and House pride. Lovell secured victory in the Interhouse Athletics competition which earned them the valuable points needed to remain in first place.

A huge well done goes to all students who represented their House throughout the year. Whether you took part in one event or ten, your enthusiasm, commitment and willingness to get involved are what make our House system such a success.

Enjoy the celebrations, Lovell, and thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s competition so memorable. We can’t wait to see what next year’s Interhouse competition brings!🔴🟡🟢

Last week, we were delighted to welcome representatives from North West Air Ambulance, Chance Changing Lives, and The Wingate Centre to Brine Leas as our 7 students proudly presented the funds raised through their sponsored walk in June.

Thanks to the incredible efforts of our students and the generosity of their supporters, we have already raised £580 for each of our three House charities – with sponsorship donations still continuing to come in!

We are extremely proud of our Year 7 students for embracing this challenge and making such a positive impact on our local community. If you haven’t yet submitted your sponsorship money, there’s still time to do so and help us increase this fantastic total even further💙

This half term, we were delighted to reward the tutor groups who have shown incredible commitment to our House system throughout the academic year by taking part in the highest number of interhouse events.

Congratulations to 7RBY, 8EHD, 9ECN and 10JCR, who were treated to a well-deserved rewards breakfast in recognition of their fantastic participation and enthusiasm.

Whether competing, supporting their House, or getting involved in the wide range of opportunities on offer, these tutor groups have consistently embraced the spirit of friendly competition and school community.

Well done to all our winners – a truly deserved reward for a year of excellent House participation! 🏆💚💛❤️

We are delighted to announce that Free School Meal eligibility is expanding. Starting September 2026, all children in households receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for Free School Meals, regardless of annual earnings🍎🥦

Here are the key dates and details to know:
📅 1 August 2026: Applications open.
📅 1 September 2026: Expanded eligibility officially starts.

This change will support more families across our community, ensuring more students have access to a healthy school meal while reducing pressure on household budgets.
