We are so thrilled that two talented horticulturists from Reaseheath have won Gold Medals at the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park 2024! 🌼🏆 Even more exciting, they might be featured on Gardener's World tonight on BBC 2 at 6pm! 🎥📺

Harry Dean, a current Landscape Architecture undergraduate at University Centre Reaseheath, received one of only four Gold medals in the Long Borders category for his stunning garden "A Gourd Time," which celebrates 100 years of his community allotment, Over Allotments. 🍅🌽

Alumnus Callum Corrie, who studied Level 2 Horticulture at Reaseheath College, took Gold in the RHS Young Designer of the Year competition with his garden "Entertaining Meets Nature," a perfect blend of stylish social space and wildlife sanctuary. 🌳🦋

Will studied Motor Vehicle at Reaseheath College as it is his ambition to become a professional racing driver! 🏎

Will said: “I’m early in my career in real world motorsport and competing in my second season in seniors in the Milltek Sport Civic Cup Championship. I've had several podium finishes and a race win, and proved myself to be one of the fastest drivers in the series.

“I represent the Pro Alloys Racing team and have several major sponsors so I’m very pleased with how my career’s going. I’m also part of a sim racing team, which is how I first got into motorsport.

“I studied motor vehicle mechanics because I wanted to continue developing my skills as a mechanic. The qualifications are good insurance for the future and also help me with my racing. It’s one thing knowing how to drive fast but it’s also hugely important to understand how the car works.

“I got to know Reaseheath well in the two years I attended as a Year 10/11 pupil and I really enjoyed becoming a full time student. The facilities are great. There’s a wide range of modern vehicles, the tools and equipment are state of the art and the lecturers are friendly and supportive.”

After completing her Level 3 Extended Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment at Reaseheath College in 2022, Kate moved on to further study and aspires to become a rural land agent and surveyor.

Kate said: “I felt Reaseheath’s course would give me the best introduction to the built environment... and it’s taken me further than I ever thought possible.

“As well as preparing me academically for university, the syllabus was incredibly diverse and delivered so many different skills and experiences. My course manager went above and beyond to make the topics relevant, from using the latest technical surveying equipment to arranging site visits and industry trips. Our practical projects included designing a plan for a new agricultural showground, which was implemented at college, and I also won best overall design for an outdoor classroom to be built on campus.

“There are so many options for women in the construction industry, so it was great to see other female students had chosen the diploma route too."

After studying a Level 2 Diploma in Professional Butchery at Reaseheath College, Jason is now a Butcher’s shop manager 👏

Jason said: “Butchery is a great career for young people, particularly if you like being active and creative – and it’s taken me further than I ever thought possible!

“Since completing my Level 2 apprenticeship I’ve become manager at Littlers Butchers, Hartford. I decide which products to create and I’m in charge of ordering stock and food safety management.

“While I was a Reaseheath student I was a gold medal winner in the butchery finals at WorldSkills UK, the nation's largest skills event, and went on to represent Team GB at the World Butchers’ Challenge in California, USA. It was my first experience at international level and I held my own against competitors from 14 other countries, so I was delighted.

“I’m proud that butchery is being recognised and glad to be an ambassador for the industry.”
