It has been an absolute pleasure today to meet so many of our new Year 7 cohort for the first day of the Shavington Academy Summer School. So, we've reached the end of another academic year. We'd like to wish all our families a sunny and restful summer. A reminder that our new Year 7s start on Wednesday September 2nd and all other years groups return on Thursday 3rd September. The image below shows the final house standings for the first year of our new house system. Congratulations to Phoenix who narrowly pipped Sphinx to winning the House Cup. More importantly, well done to all those pupils who contributed to the nearly 50,000 house points that were awarded this year for going above and beyond. Enjoy the break and we'll see you all again in September.

This we took a group of Year 8 pupils on a Workplace Safari as part of the Future Ready Programme. The pupils visited a building site run by Vistry; the Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall; and met members of the Youth Fed team in Crewe. They learnt about how different organisations and sectors work and the kind of opportunities that are available. Thank you to The Pledge for organising this programme and to the organisations that supported. Our pupils had a thoroughly interesting and very enjoyable day.

Our Year 10 pupils thoroughly enjoyed their trip to CCSW for their annual Secondary College event. This day gives our pupils the opportunity to experience college for a day and attend three taster sessions for subjects and courses they are interested in. These include A-levels, T-levels, and other vocational courses. As always, it was an invaluable experience for our young people. Many thanks to CCSW for organising this so well and providing this opportunity. &Aspirations

Our annual Futures Fair is a key element in our Futures & Aspirations calendar where all pupils get the opportunity to have meaningful encounters with a wide range of employers and post-16 providers. This shows our younger pupils the opportunities that exist locally, nationally and internationally, and helps them to aim high. For our older pupils this event helps them to make the right decision as they get nearer to leaving the Academy. As always, our pupils impressed with their engagement, questions, and interest. Our annual Awards Evening is a highlight of the Academy calendar every year. It gives us the opportunity to celebrate academic achievement across all 5 year groups, as well as recognising those pupils who go above and beyond in terms of their character and contributions to the SA community. Congratulations to all award winners and thank-you to all those staff and parents who came along to support the event.

A group of over 40 pupils enjoyed a cross-year-group trip to Old Trafford to watch the women's T20 World Cup cricket match between India and Bangladesh. India won the match by 5 wickets and Shafali Verma was named player of the match. Pupils and staff thoroughly enjoyed some first class cricket and some first-class (if a little too warm) weather!
