1st Steps Childcare Nairn is a private day care nursery delivering high quality sessions and whole days for babies to 5 year olds. We also provide flexible day care sessions for children up to end of primary years inclusive (breakfast, after school and holiday club). COVID UPDATE - REOPENING

I am pleased and relieved to be able to confirm that Public Health Team have confirmed this morning that we are able to reopen on Monday 6th as per initial outline guidance…

We/they would like to remind all parents and carers that they should continue to be extra vigilant for developing symptoms .. including the more variant symptoms that are like colds, headaches, sore throats, sickness, diarrhoea etc as detailed in their letter of 30/8/21.

I and the staff team can not thank everyone enough for all the supportive comments and posts … can’t wait to see everyone next week

Roslin xx

IMPORTANT UPDATE - covid 19

I have just spoken to the healthy protection team and as this is now being treated as an outbreak the guidance on self isolation of children and/or parents and carers is slightly different….

ALL CHILDREN SHOULD SELF ISOLATE FOR THE 10 days …

Parents/carers of children who are negative can go about normally and go to work - regardless of vaccination status.

Parents/carers of children who are positive should isolate if not double vaccinated.

If double vaccinated and had a negative PCR of their own they can go about as normal.

I will call each of the primary schools and advise directly for those who may have gone to school / school nursery today.

Those who are waiting tests should self isolate until results received - whole households.

COVID UPDATE ..
A huge thank you to all that have managed to get PCR and even to those that tried … it is such a horrible thing for them all to do.

As results are taking time I will make the decision that we will stay closed tomorrow TO ALL CHILDREN AND STAFF.

I will talk over the results with the health protection team tomorrow. Given that we have had a mix so far it will be very likely that we will be closed for the 10 days. I will confirm all clearer dates tomorrow along with any further guidance.

Thank you again for all messages and support … Roslin and staff team.

COVID UPDATE:
Unfortunately news not getting better - my (Roslin)PCR result came back positive as had one other child … I have no symptoms, 13 other children’s results back negative …

I will have to talk further to health protection team on Monday morning when they are back on duty - lines closed unless emergency. It is likely that they will recommend a fuller closure of the centre for 10 days - I am not sure if that would be effective from Friday’s closure but I think so if we have no children in from then … the likelihood would then be reopening on Monday 6th September.
I want to give families as much notice as possible and allow them to consider what they are doing from today ..

This is the most distressing post I ever hope to make as I know the knock on for all our families is likely to be huge … I would suggest that all children self isolate until at least their PCR results are back.

I hope to hear more negative results as the day goes on and tomorrow … and I will continue to keep you all updated as I can.

For those not on our closed page we would like to let you know that following a third positive child and two positive staff over the last two weeks the health protection team have advised us to close this afternoon and for Monday … they would like a bigger picture of possible transmission and requested all children get PCR tests this weekend. Depending on the results a decision will be made about Tuesday reopening.
In the meantime the centre will have a deep clean again and full fogging … we are heartfelt sad at all the stress and trauma for children testing and their families. … we as a team are committed to keep high standards of care and welfare alongside covid safe environment … it is alongside a significant upscale in cases locally and nationally.
Please continue to be vigilant for signs and symptoms and stay safe by continuing to use the HANDS, SPACE, FACE - isolate and test - even as things are more relaxed. Thank you for all the supportive comments and actions undertaken xx

In line with national policy and practice development we have designed a new enrolment format document - with apologies to those who may have completed recently. The narrative is very much in the words of the child and is designed to be an active document that will require regular review. We will be providing hard copies to all (new and existing service users) next week. It is important that it is completed as comprehensively as possible and I can also email a copy so that you can start to have a look at the format and think about the content ... any feedback welcome.

LUNCH MENU for the next four weeks is available by email to those not on our closed page ... Funded children are all eligible for free lunch and children aged two are able to have them at a cost of £2.60 daily. Children do not need to have every day they attend and can still bring a packed lunch if there is not a dish they may like. If parents/carers could please screenshot and post here only or print and return a paper copy as it is becoming hard to keep track of lists returned in various ways. If you have any issues seeing a PDF attachment a printed copy will be available on Monday to collect. Any questions just post below also. Thank you for all your comments on previous menus ... new ideas always welcome - although we do have to follow Setting the Table national guidance! 👩‍🍳👩‍🍳
