📣 A message for every celebrant and graduate in our community
Right now, the UK Government is consulting on the biggest change to wedding law in almost 200 years, and it includes a proposal that could allow independent celebrants to conduct legally binding weddings for the first time.
This is a genuine opportunity for our profession, but nothing is decided yet. The consultation is open for anyone to respond to, and it closes on 24 September 2026.
Whether you trained with us or elsewhere, whether you're newly qualified or have years of experience, we'd really encourage you to have your say. This is the moment the government is actively asking to hear from people like you, and the more thoughtful, genuine responses they receive, the harder our voice is to overlook.

I've written my own response to the consultation, and I'm very happy to share it as a starting point if it's helpful, just DM us or drop us an email and we'll send it over. Please do adapt it in your own words rather than copying it directly, each response carries much more weight when it reflects your own voice and experience.
If you have any questions about the consultation or want to talk through your own answers, we're always happy to help. 💛
