We love our Bookbug sessions at the library! ๐Ÿฅฐ

Itโ€™s a lovely way for toddlers to enjoy stories, songs and rhymes while developing their language, listening and communication skills.

They also get to socialise, build confidence, join in with others and, most importantly, have lots of fun! ๐Ÿงธ๐Ÿ“–

A simple trip to the library can be so much more than just story time โ€” itโ€™s learning, exploring and making memories together. ๐Ÿ’›

After school activities ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿงฉ

After a busy day at school, we have enjoyed some calm, focused activities at home. The children chose a variety of games and puzzles, including number work and shape-building challenges and word search.

These types of activities are great for helping children unwind while still keeping their minds active. There was lots of concentration, problem solving and perseverance shown as they worked things out independently and with a little support when needed.

Learning opportunities:

* ๐Ÿ”ข Developing early maths and number recognition skills

* ๐Ÿ’ฌ Supporting communication by talking through their ideas and solutions
* ๐Ÿ˜Š Promoting independence and confidence in their abilities

Recently we had a lovely visit to the library ๐Ÿ“š

The children had a great time exploring all the different books, choosing their own stories and finding a cosy spot to sit and read together. We looked at a mix of familiar favourites and some new stories, which sparked lots of interest and conversation.

Library visits are always a great opportunity to encourage a love of reading from an early age. The children enjoyed turning pages, pointing to pictures and talking about what they could see in the stories.

Learning opportunities:

* ๐Ÿ“– Developing early literacy skills and a love for books
* ๐Ÿ’ฌ Building language and communication through storytelling and discussion

Yesterday we had a magical day visiting the Archerfield Walled Garden Fairy Trail โœจ

The children absolutely loved exploring the woodland trail, spotting all the little fairy houses hidden amongst the trees and letting their imaginations run wild. Itโ€™s such a lovely space for little ones to explore at their own pace, with so many magical details to discover along the way. The fairy trail winds through natural woodland paths, making it a great outdoor adventure ๐ŸŒฟ

Learning opportunities:

* ๐ŸŒณ Encouraging imagination and creative thinking through storytelling and role play
* ๐Ÿšถโ€โ™‚๏ธ Developing physical skills through walking, climbing and exploring uneven terrain
* ๐Ÿ‘€ Building observation skills as the children searched for hidden fairy homes and woodland features

Outdoor Fun & Spring Adventures ๐ŸŒฟ

Weโ€™ve been making the most of the brighter weather and spending lots of time outdoors enjoying all the garden and local surroundings have to offer ๐ŸŒผ

In the garden, the children have loved free play with scooters, slides, and water playโ€”keeping active while having lots of fun! These activities help develop gross motor skills, balance, and coordination, as well as building confidence in their physical abilities ๐Ÿ’ฆ

Water play has also been a big favourite, encouraging sensory exploration, problem-solving, and early understanding of concepts like pouring, filling, and volume.

Weโ€™ve also been out exploring different parks and going on lovely walks to feed the ducks ๐Ÿฆ† This supports the childrenโ€™s understanding of the world around them, encourages curiosity about nature and animals, and promotes physical health and wellbeing.

Outdoor play also provides great opportunities for social interactionโ€”sharing, turn-taking, and building friendshipsโ€”as well as supporting communication and language development through conversations and new experiences.

Itโ€™s been so nice to enjoy the fresh air, stay active, and learn through play in the natural environment ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ’›
