We were thrilled to welcome over 50 OLs for drinks at Lady Libertine on Thursday evening, with healthy representation from six different decades!

The private 'Vault' and adjoining bar proved brilliant spaces for mixing and mingling, and it was great to hear so much laughter throughout the night. OLs who hadn't seen each other for over 40 years had unexpected-but-happy reunions, more recent Leavers received updates on fondly remembered teachers, and everyone shared their excitement and enthusiasm for next year's 200th anniversary celebrations.

All in all, it was a triumphant evening, and we thank all who attended for creating such a wonderful atmosphere. We are now hugely looking forward to our next drinks event in London where we hope to welcome another strong turnout!

This past weekend saw leavers from 2016 return to Loretto for a 10 Year Reunion event, and we're very grateful to everyone who attended – especially those who travelled from Europe!

The group was welcomed to Schoolhouse with tea and coffee, before heading into the Dining Hall for a nostalgic lunch and chats with former teachers. A tour of the school followed, including stops at boarding houses, the CRC and, of course, the Chapel.

The occasion was rounded off with a drinks reception in the Old Library, where the Lorettonian magazine and whole-school photo from 2016 fuelled further reminiscing, as did a competitive ‘2016’ themed quiz. A Loretto minibus then transported the group into Edinburgh where the merriment continued well into the evening.

It was fantastic to see and catch up with everyone who attended, and we thank you all again for joining us!

2027 marks 200 years since Loretto was founded, and we are thrilled to share four events that will bring our community together in celebration of this remarkable milestone. As we look ahead with confidence, we invite you to join us as we step together into our next century.

We know many OLs are keen to know the key dates for next year's celebrations, and these are the events to which all OLs are warmly invited.

There will also be a Community Ceilidh at Haddington Corn Exchange on Saturday 30th January 2027, primarily for the families of Loretto pupils, but also for any OLs who wish to attend.

Further details and booking information will be shared in the coming months but, for now, please do save these dates and join us as we celebrate the next chapter of our story, together.

It was lovely to see a number of OLs supporting Loretto's 1st XV in their victory against Fettes on Saturday, including this group of particularly enthusiastic OLs from the last three years!

The additional pitch-side encouragement was hugely appreciated and it was wonderful to see so many friendly faces back supporting their old school.

We extend huge thanks to David J. Houston (1966) for sharing with the Society these fantastic photographs of Loretto’s Chapel from 1964, before and during its extension.

Taken on David’s Brownie 127 camera, it is fascinating to scroll through and watch the process unfold.

Many thanks again David for taking the time to scan these photographs and send them across!

All of these photographs – as well as some new images of Schoolhouse, Hope House just after it first opened, and Seton House as it was under construction – have all been added to the ‘members’ section of the Society’s online, digital archive, which you can visit at:
