Good news in Edinburgh!!
NEWS!
Well, folks. Although we still need a few more pounds to close the entire circle of funding, we are *ecstatic* to announce that Filmhouse (Edinburgh) Ltd. have been successful in their bid for UK Government Community Ownership Fund investment, and have been awarded a grant of £1.5 million.
This sum, along with the required £400K of match funding (which includes the amount raised by the crowdfunder) means that we can go ahead and sign a lease, and start the refurbishment work that will enable us to open the doors to the modern, comfortable venue that Filmhouse audiences deserve. And, brilliantly, it will also allow us to add a small, multi-use, fourth screen which will support the programming of even more films – and be there for education activities.
Filmhouse was not saved until this news came in; this is a game changer for the campaign, and every single supporter, whether a donor of money or encouragement, should know that their contribution has made this happen. THANK YOU from the bottom of our cinematic hearts, on behalf of everyone who wants Filmhouse back.
The doors *will* open again. We’re aiming for the autumn.
But yes, we *are* still fundraising, to make sure we have enough funds to cover the pre-opening costs (things like computers, staff recruitment, a launch campaign, etc.) as we ramp up the new, wider Filmhouse organisation. So the crowdfunder, will therefore run, as planned, until the end of April. We’re in the home stretch – please do consider chipping in if you’re able!

CALL TO ALL CURRENT AND PREVIOUS T&F STUDENTS
We are going through revalidation, which means we have to critically review and make the necessary changes to the programme. It would be so great to have your input, because whatever your responses and feedback, it will be super helpful and will aid me in formulating the priorities for the changes we want to try and implement.
Here is the survey, it should not take long at all to fill in: https://forms.office.com/e/A2av8JXR7F
Could I ask you to also forward this to any students of T&F who have left and that you may still be in touch with? I'd be so grateful if this could reach a good amount of people from the past couple of years, as you have done this degree and are now making your ways into the creative industries/academia etc, and can evaluate the degree from that pov.
With many many thanks,
Stefanie
