๐ What have we been getting up to at nursery?
We have had a wonderful week of learning, exploring and developing new skills across all areas of the nursery!
๐ถ Babies โ Imaginative Play
Our babies have been enjoying imaginative play as they helped to create and take part in their very own baby tea party๐งธ๐ซ The children enjoyed engaging in pretend play alongside their peers and interacting with familiar adults. These experiences provided valuable opportunities to develop their communication and language skills, as well as their social interactions and confidence.
๐ง Toddlers โ Playdough Mark Making
Our toddlers have been exploring mark making through playdough๐จ They experimented with a variety of tools and resources to create different marks and patterns, developing their creativity and fine motor control.
The children particularly enjoyed making and talking about car tracks, sharing their ideas and discussing the marks they had created๐
๐ฑโโ๏ธ Pre-school โ Baking & Scissor Skills
Our pre-school children have been busy little chefs, baking their very own cupcakes! ๐ง Through this hands-on experience, the children developed their mathematical skills by weighing and counting ingredients, while also practising turn-taking and cooperation as they mixed the ingredients.
They enjoyed discussing what happens when the mixture goes into the oven and, of course, were delighted to taste their delicious creations!
The children have also been developing their scissor skills, practising cutting along a range of different linesโ๏ธ They explored different types of scissors and focused on developing their grip, control and coordination, supporting their fine motor development and preparing them for future writing skills.
๐ School Readiness
As we prepare to say a fond farewell to some of our pre-school children as they begin their exciting journey into big school, we have been focusing on emotions, relationships and preparing for this important transition.
The children have been creating their own self-portraits, discussing their individual features and recognising what makes each of us unique. We have also been talking about how we might feel when starting school and encouraging the children to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
These conversations are helping to support the children's emotional wellbeing, confidence and self-awareness, while preparing them for the exciting changes ahead๐
We are incredibly proud of all our children and the progress they continue to make each day๐โจ
