A lovely play outside in our wonderful nursery garden allowing the little learners to experience new things that will benefit their intellectual development and boost their creativity. Children will naturally engage in all five of their senses while playing outside, which strengthens their ability to process sensory stimulation.

At Bolland we are serious and committed about helping children to grow and flourish.

Providing a quality learning experience in our nursery is the period of a child's life when the brain develops rapidly and the early foundations for health and wellbeing are sown to support those important first few years of life and throughout their life.
Creating a rich and stimulating environment, making effective use of the all the space so that play opportunities and experiences for all children encourage exploration and respecting each child's unique interests.

A holistic learning experience which allows children and adults to be actively involved in creating a purposeful happy and safe environment. Including areas and activities that promote calmness and rest to support children to manage their feelings and emotions as they form friendships, manage challenges, share and make choices in their learning environment.

And overall have lots of fun too.

Out in the community, shopping and expanding our knowledge and understanding of the world.

There are huge benefits of building up young children’s knowledge and understanding of their local community alongside making strong connections with local people, local businesses, and opportunities ultimately not only sows the seeds of learning but helps to genuinely strengthen their community.

Firstly to provide meaningful experiences you need to discuss with the children before they go out and how they will get to understand on what they already know and where they need to explore/learn next.

Today we learnt all about the following:

• Showing Responsibility.
• Following simple safety rules.
• Numeracy through concepts such as counting i.e. count the number of apples; sizes; numbers, etc. “How many oranges am I putting in the bag?”
• Colours. “Can you see something blue?”
• Shapes.
• Learn about senses.
• Learning about money.
• Practicing social skills.
• Problem solving.
• Talk and learn the difference between healthy and unhealthy foods.
• Learn memory. You can get them to remember some of the shopping list.
• Pre-literacy skills ranging from recognising letters in words, looking for things, having a simple shopping list, etc.
• Learn about foods and food groups.
• Learning about advertising and labelling and recognising numbers and printed words in the environment.

Finger painting is an excellent sensory-based therapeutic activity that can benefit individuals of all ages and abilities. It engages multiple senses, provides an opportunity for self-expression, improves fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, and can be a relaxing and calming activity.

Met Becs from The Christmas Farm at the allotment last week . She really kindly helped me with some weeding tonight . The allotment is still providing potatoes , spinach , Swiss chard . Over the next week we will be planting kale , broccoli, winter cabbage and spinach . It’s lovely meeting other people who offer their expertise to help. The Christmas Farm is a local organic veg box scheme well worth a look if you’re looking for
organic produce much of it grown here and delivered to your home .

At nursery we will be caring for our plants and encouraging sustainable living and delicious heslthy food from our winter allotment plants .
