Have Maypole Will Travel

Have Maypole Will Travel We provide the dance tuition, live music and the maypole, you provide the space and the audience!

Based near Morpeth, Northumberland in the North East of England, we are a small collective that offer maypole and heritage dance workshops from late Medieval to Georgian, tailored to suit a wide variety of abilities. Maypole Workshops - great for outdoor family events where young children and adults alike can participate. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with the focus on everyone learning some bas

ic dances and having fun. We usually start off with some very easy Tudor circle dances and then move on to some simple maypole dances. Heritage Dance Workshops - Two hour or longer in-depth workshops for a pre-booked amount of people. The dances include historically recorded dances from manuscripts and books dating from the late renaissance to the present day and are more complex, so the preferred age range is older children to adults. We like to concentrate on giving people a flavour of the period music and the dances that go with them rather than becoming overly concerned with detail, and are quite happy to do dances from a mixture of periods within the same workshop, including modern barn dances.
