🔦✨ Our first Chantry Spotlight! ✨🔦

What a brilliant start! This fortnight, 27 pupils across Years 5 to 8 were chosen by their teachers to be in the very first Chantry Spotlight.

Our first focus was Care: “We take pride in our learning.” 💜

Take a look at some of the fantastic work that earned a place in the Spotlight 👇📸 You can see the pride and effort that went into every piece.

Each Spotlight pupil shared their work with a member of our senior leadership team and talked about what they were proud of, how they made it a success and what they’ll work on next.

Every Spotlight pupil has received a certificate to bring home. If yours did, please ask them all about it!

A huge well done to all our Spotlight pupils. Remember, it isn’t about being top of the class: effort, improvement and care all count.

🍎✨ Year 8 English: Tasting the "Red Rubies" ✨

Year 8 have been exploring the Syrian war through our class text, The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Raúf, building their understanding of what it means to leave home and start again somewhere new. 💬📖

In the story, the main character wants to befriend the refugee pupil in their class and decides a pomegranate would make the perfect gift. We loved the description of the pomegranate's seeds as little "red rubies", so of course we had to try some for ourselves! 😋

A brilliant way to bring a story to life and spark some thoughtful conversations about kindness, friendship and empathy. 💛

🚶‍♀️👟 WALK TO SCHOOL MONTH IS HERE! 👟🚶‍♂️

October is International Walk to School Month, and we're kicking off a 3-week challenge to help our pupils start their day with a healthy, active boost! 🌍

Whether your child walks, wheels, cycles, scoots or tries Park and Stride (parking a little further away and walking the last stretch), everyone can take part, however far away they live.

Here's what's happening:

✍️ Week 1: Walk This Month Pledge
In form time, pupils will set their own realistic walking goal for the month and make a pledge card.

🏃 Week 2: Daily Mile
Form groups will head outside during afternoon registration for a 15-minute walk or jog around the school grounds. We'll add up every lap from Years 5 to 8 to see how far across the country our school community can travel together!

👟 Week 3: Happy Shoes Day, Friday 23rd October
Pupils can come to school in their comfiest, brightest or favourite shoes (with their usual school uniform) to celebrate.

Walking to school helps children stay healthy and happy, connect with friends and family, and protect the environment. 💚

✨ Introducing the Chantry Spotlight ✨

This World Mental Health Day (10 October), the theme is "Lived experiences heard: real voices, real change" – a reminder of how much it matters to be listened to.

That's exactly why we're launching the Chantry Spotlight! 🔦

Every two weeks, each teacher will choose one pupil whose learning shows our Chantry values of Care, Respect and Responsibility. That pupil will take their work to a senior leader, who will spend time listening as they talk about what they're proud of, how they made it a success and what they'll work on next.

Every Spotlight pupil will receive a certificate to bring home, and some of their brilliant work will go on display in school.

It isn't about being top of the class – effort, improvement and care all count. 💜

We can't wait to celebrate our pupils' voices and their learning. Keep an eye out for a certificate coming home soon!

🛡️ Staying Safe with Dave Burn

Our Year 6 pupils had a fantastic assembly this week with Dave Burn, who spoke to them about staying safe as they grow up. Dave tackled some really important topics, including how one punch can kill, the dangers of knife crime and how to stay safe online. He also explained why age ratings matter on games, films, apps and social media, and how sticking to age-appropriate content helps keep young people safe. Our pupils listened brilliantly and got stuck into the scenario role plays, handling some tricky situations with real maturity. We're so proud of them! 👏

Parents and carers, why not ask your child what they learned? Talking these topics through at home really helps the messages stick. 💬

🧥 WRAP UP THIS WINTER: COAT COLLECTION 🧥

As the weather turns colder, we're helping the Rotary Club of Morpeth with its Wrap Up campaign, and we'd love your help!

Do you have a warm coat that's no longer needed? Perhaps your child has outgrown one, or there's one sitting at the back of the wardrobe. It could keep someone warm this winter.

📅 When: Monday 5th – Friday 16th October
📍 Where: KS2 Warm Space
👕 What we need: Coats for young people and adults, clean and in good condition

All coats will be passed on to local charity organisations to help people in our community through the colder months.

Just a friendly reminder that our school photographer will be in on Friday taking individual pupil photos.

Please make sure your child comes to school in full school uniform, looking smart and photo-ready! 😊

Order forms and payment details will be sent home with the photos in the coming weeks.

Reminder for the start of our new academic year.

We hope that everyone has enjoyed their summer break! 😎
📚 As the start of our new academic year is fast approaching we just wanted to remind you of important information for pupils returning to school next week.

START TIMES
- Tuesday 1st September - Teacher Training Day. School closed to all students.
- Our new Year 5 students will start school on Wednesday 2nd September.
-All other year groups will start back on Thursday 3rd September.
-Our school opens to all students at 08:45 with the doors closing at 08:55
-School finishes at 15:25

BREAKFAST CLUB - a reminder that our breakfast club runs from 08:15 in the school hall for any student who would like breakfast before school or would like support with their homework.

EQUIPMENT
Students are able to take equipment to and from school. Therefore it is essential that students have the following equipment with them on a daily basis.

Children are expected to take the following to every lesson:
● Planner (given at the start of each academic year)
● Reading book
● Black Writing Pen
● Blue Pen
● Pencil
● Rubber
● Ruler
● Sharpener
● Optional: blue/red pens, coloured pencils, calculator, protractor, compass

MOBILE PHONES
Pupils may bring mobile telephones to school but this is at the parents own risk. Our insurance does not cover loss, damage or theft of personal digital devices.
Pupil mobile telephones must be turned off and handed into their Form teacher in the morning as they are not to be used whilst on the school site. Mobile telephones will be confiscated if pupils do not hand their phones in. Any confiscated mobile telephone will need to be collected by the parent / carer, confiscated mobile telephones will not be returned to the pupil.
In exceptional circumstances, pupils may request access to their mobile phone (for urgent contact or medical reasons). Access will only be granted with parental consent, obtained in advance via contact with the Form Teacher or Head of Year.

E-SAFETY
We would like to continue to support positive e-safety approaches at home during the Summer holiday. Please refer to this link for up to date advice and guidance.

UNIFORM
Students will continue to wear their PE kits to and from school on the days they have PE. Students are only allowed to wear the Chantry PE kit. No other item will be allowed.

SCHOOL LUNCHES
Don't forget to top up lunch accounts on schoolgrid and pre-order meals in advance. 🥗
