❌ Community Update – Fireworks Display Cancellation ❌

Following a thorough review with our event partners and the professional fireworks contractor, a decision has been made to cancel the fireworks display. While comprehensive risk assessments and control measures had been developed, including fire watches and ongoing monitoring of conditions, it was agreed that cancellation is the most appropriate course of action at this time.

The safety of our community, participants and staff remains our highest priority, and we appreciate the feedback received from local residents.

Please note that the British Firefighter Challenge event will continue to go ahead as planned, with only the fireworks element being cancelled.
We thank the local community for their understanding and support and look forward to welcoming competitors and visitors for a successful event. 🚒🧯

💥COMMUNITY UPDATE - FIREWORK DISPLAY💥

We would like to thank members of the local community for raising their concerns regarding the planned fireworks display as part of the British Firefighter Challenge.

Please be assured that we have been working closely with both the event organisers and the professional fireworks contractor to carefully assess the current conditions. Comprehensive risk assessments have been reviewed and updated to reflect the recent warm weather and dry conditions.

A range of additional control measures will be in place, including dedicated fire watches before, during and after the display, as well as enhanced monitoring of the surrounding area. As with all events of this nature, weather and ground conditions will be reviewed again on the day, and the display will only proceed if it is deemed safe to do so.

We appreciate the community's concerns and want to reassure residents that safety remains our highest priority. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and work with all relevant parties to ensure appropriate precautions are in place.

Fire Fest 2026 is taking place next weekend at the Fire Service College – and it's shaping up to be an action-packed weekend for the whole family! 🚒🌍

Watch firefighters from across the globe go head-to-head in a range of exciting challenges, showcasing their incredible skill, strength, and teamwork.

There's plenty happening away from the competition to, including:

🚒 Fire engines and emergency vehicles on display
🎆 A spectacular fireworks display set to music at 9:30pm
🧯 Community safety activities
👨‍🚒 A Junior Firefighter Challenge, where children can test their own firefighting skills!

We’re really sorry to share that, due to unforeseen circumstances, we’ve had to make the difficult decision to CANCEL Bonfire Night 2025.

We know this event is a highlight for many and completely understand how disappointing this news is.

🎟️ Anyone who has purchased tickets will receive a full refund.

We have no parkrun this coming Saturday 6th September , however join us on the 13th of September as we will be celebrating our fantastic emergency services that serve all our communities. We hope to have a few of them in attendance also.
National Emergency Services Day, also known as 999 Day, is on Tuesday September 9th this year.. This day serves to honour the work of the NHS and all other emergency services.
Come and join us to honour this day at the home of the UK FRS and help say thank-you. Dress up optional.
