When a child's needs simply cannot be met in a mainstream setting, fighting for the right specialist placement can feel like an impossible, exhausting uphill battle for parents.

We just received incredible news for one of our wonderful families! πŸ₯³

Following our robust work surrounding their annual review and evidence submission, the Local Authority has formally agreed to amend Section I of their child's EHCP to name an independent preparatory school, and assume full responsibility for funding the school fees moving forward! 🏫✨

No tribunal fight needed. Just precise, expert evidence building, relentless advocacy, and knowing exactly how to navigate Local Authority panel decisions.

Watching a family go from feeling completely stuck and anxious to having a clear, funded path forward for their child’s education is exactly why we do what we do. 🀍

Need help securing the right provision or placement for your child?
Whether you are facing a draft EHCP, preparing for an annual review, or struggling with a Local Authority decision, our independent advocacy team is here to fight in your corner.

If the thought of the new school term is already causing tension at home, you aren't alone. For many neurodivergent children, especially those facing high anxiety, sensory overwhelm or EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance), the lead-up to September can feel overwhelming for the whole family.

At Learn Together SEND, we offer a gentler path forward.

Our private 1:1 daytime tutoring is built specifically around how neurodivergent minds actually thrive. We don't bring classroom pressure into your home. Instead, our trauma-informed associate tutors focus entirely on building a safe connection first, using your child's intense special interests to rebuild their confidence at their own pace.

Whether your child is learning from home full-time or needs a calm, structured routine during the school day, we handle the educational framework so you can focus on being their parent again. 🀍

πŸ“© We are currently booking private 1:1 daytime packages for the September term. Space is strictly limited to ensure high-quality, dedicated support.

To check availability or discuss how we can support your child this autumn, send an email directly to me at: [email protected]

**"It's only the summer holidays... why am I talking about school refusal?"**

Because September has a habit of arriving much faster than we expect.

Right now, many children are calmer.

They're sleeping better.

They're laughing more.

They're finally starting to feel like themselves again.

For some families, that's a huge clue.

If you're already worrying about how your child will cope when school starts again, don't wait until the night before term begins.

Understanding *why* your child is refusing school is the first step towards helping them.

If this video sounds like your family, I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments.

And if you'd like to talk about your child's situation, send me a WhatsApp on **07498 389174**.

Let's make this September different. ❀️

πŸ’œ Something exciting is coming...

I'm so pleased to finally share that Learn Together and Calm Together are joining forces to launch The Bridge Programme.

This has been created for children and young people who find school overwhelming, experience anxiety, struggle with emotional regulation, or need extra support to feel ready for September.

What makes this different?

Whilst children take part in specialist therapeutic sessions with Calm Together, parents won't be sitting in a waiting room.

They'll be with me, learning practical, evidence-based strategies to better understand their child's nervous system, reduce stress at home and feel more confident supporting them.

By the end of the programme, families won't just have had six sessions. They'll leave with greater understanding, practical tools and a clear plan to help make the transition back to school feel calmer and more manageable.

This is more than a summer activity. It's an investment in your family's confidence for the new school year.

We're putting the finishing touches to everything now and can't wait to share more over the coming weeks.

πŸ’œ If you think this could help your family, comment BRIDGE below or send me a message and I'll make sure you're one of the first to hear when bookings open.

"Two weeks into the summer holidays...

Some children are thriving. The pressure has lifted. They're laughing more. Sleeping better. They're calmer. They're finally starting to look like themselves again.

And that's exactly why so many parents are feeling conflicted. Because they're wondering...”How do I send my child back to the environment that made them so unhappy?"

I've had that conversation with several parents already this summer. They've realised something important.
It wasn't that their child was 'being difficult'.

It wasn't poor parenting. It wasn't a lack of boundaries. When the pressure of school disappeared...So did much of the anxiety.

If you've spent the last two weeks watching your child become happier, calmer and more relaxed, don't ignore what they're showing you.

Children communicate in lots of different ways. Sometimes, the biggest message comes when the pressure is taken away.
September doesn't have to be a repeat of last year.

There is still time to put support in place, understand what's really happening and make a plan before the new term begins.
❀️ If you'd like to talk about your child's next steps, send me a WhatsApp on 07498 389174. Let's make September feel different.

Parents do this all the time… and it could be making your EHCP application weaker.

Writing things like:

❌ "My child needs more confidence."
❌ "They need to make friends."
❌ "They need to be happier."

These aren't educational needs. They're outcomes.

An EHCP needs to explain **why** your child struggles, what their SEND looks like day to day, and the provision they need to make progress.

The words you choose matter.

I'm Laura, a **SEND Advocate**, and I help families build evidence-led EHCP applications, annual reviews and appeals that accurately reflect their child's needs.

Have you ever been told to write something like this? Let me know in the comments. πŸ‘‡

"He's so clever... I just don't understand why he won't do it."

She looked exhausted. Not because her son was failing. He wasn't. He was bright.
Funny. Kind. He could talk for hours about the things he loved.

But every single evening looked the same.
"Have you started your homework?"
"I will in a minute."

Twenty minutes later...
"Have you started yet?"
"No... I'm just about to."

Another half an hour passed. Nothing. Eventually, everyone was upset. Her son was in tears. She was frustrated. Dad was trying to help. Homework that should have taken 30 minutes had taken three hours.

Again.

She quietly said something that stayed with me. β€œI don't know whether he's lazy, overwhelmed, or whether I'm expecting too much anymore."

The truth? It wasn't laziness. He didn't need another tutor. He already knew what to do. He just didn't know how to get his brain to do it.

That's executive functioning. It's the invisible set of skills that help us:
βœ” get started
βœ” organise ourselves
βœ” manage time
βœ” remember what we're doing
βœ” switch between tasks
βœ” finish what we've begun

For many neurodivergent teenagers, those skills don't just appear because they get older. They need to be understood. Modelled. Practised. Supported.

That's why we've created our Executive Function Coaching Programme.

Not to make young people work harder.
To help them understand how their brain works, build practical systems that actually fit them, and become more independent with school, home and everyday life.

Because when we stop asking, β€œWhy won't they just do it?" and start asking, β€œWhat's getting in the way?" everything changes.

If this sounds like your teenager, I'd love to tell you more. Drop me a message or comment EXECUTIVE below, and I'll send you the information.

Red light on... microphone live... no pressure! πŸŽ™οΈ

Today I recorded the very first episodes of Beyond Behaviour for Beyond Radio.

As a SEND advocate, I spend my days helping families navigate EHCPs, school attendance, tribunal appeals and the challenges of the SEND system. I know how overwhelming it can feel when you're trying to do the best for your child but don't know where to turn.

That's exactly why I wanted to create these monthly features.

In just 60 seconds each month, I'll be sharing simple, practical insights to help parents understand what's really happening behind their child's behaviour, feel more confident navigating the SEND system and realise they're not alone.

I genuinely hope every episode leaves at least one parent thinking:

"That explains my child."

I can't wait to share them with you.

πŸŽ™οΈ Beyond Behaviour – coming soon on Beyond Radio.
