Fantastic Friday! 🌟

A huge well done to the team at Sandcastles Nursery in Morecambe 👏 for their commitment to developing inclusive practice this year.

Staff have shown real professionalism and courage in inviting observation and engaging openly in reflective discussions during a staff meeting. Following this, they have proactively embedded a range of effective strategies, including the use of visuals, Bucket Time and Colourful Semantics, to support children’s learning and participation. 🌈

Their decision to further strengthen practice through joining an Inclusive Practice Project demonstrates their ongoing dedication. Throughout, the team have remained positive, enthusiastic and genuinely passionate about improving outcomes for all children—an approach that is highly commendable. ✨💙

We are surrounded by excellent outdoor play spaces - time at the park or playground is free, builds children’s physical skills, gives parents time for a coffee and lifts children’s happiness.

Which is your favourite park? Happy mount park, Torrisholme park, Pirate park, Telly Tubby Park, Williamsons park, Silverdale playground, Lowther castle, Nether Kellet, Bolton le Sands, Halton, Scorton….?

A temporary traffic regulation order is in place for this Thursday, May 28, on Marine Road East from its junction with Broadway to its junction with Lord Street, from 6am to noon, and then from the Lord Street to Northumberland Street junctions from noon to 6pm.

There is also a traffic regulation order for Skipton Street, Back Crescent Street, Graham Street, Derby Street, Tunstall Street and Anderton Street from 6pm to 8pm that day.

Keen to contribute to cutting edge child development research? Here’s a link to aninteresting research experience available to families https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1KzEChHvNG/?mibextid=wwXIfr

Calling parents of curious and creative little minds!

We’re currently recruiting families for a research study exploring how creativity and flexible thinking develop in early childhood.

Research with adults shows a strong relationship between creativity and flexible thinking, but we still know relatively little about when this link first begins to emerge. This study is investigating whether we can already see these patterns by age 3.

If you have a child aged 35–38 months, we’d love to invite them to take part. Children will complete a couple of short, game-like activities designed to explore early creative behaviour and thinking skills. Sessions last around 45 minutes, and families will receive a thank you gift for taking part.

Appointments are available throughout May, June, and July.

If you’d like more information or are interested in taking part, please comment below or contact [email protected]
