The children visited Ferryden Beach today to learn more about pollution and how we can all help look after our planet.

we carried out an exciting experiment by placing a message in a bottle into the water to see how far it would travel. This helped us think about how litter can move through our waterways and impact the environment.

We were also incredibly lucky to spot a pod of dolphins in the river! The children were fascinated to see these amazing animals in their natural habitat and talked about the importance of keeping our oceans and rivers clean to protect marine life.

A wonderful day of learning, exploring, and connecting with nature. 🌍🐬💙

Ferryden Playgroup has been busy painting stones to place on the wall along Lighthouse Road.
The children are very excited to walk along and see their colourful creations displayed for everyone to enjoy.
If anyone in the community would like to add a painted stone, please come along and join us also with ferryden primary school , date to be confirned .
At Ferryden Playgroup, we are proud to support our local community and play an active role in positive improvement and change. Projects like this help foster new relationships with local residents, encourage community spirit, and spread happiness throughout the village.

A few of our children visited another nursery today at Southesk Primary School. We were invited along to join in a Bookbug session and stay for a play.
We were also gifted a lovely painted sign from a grandparent celebrating our new logo — the children were delighted and very proud to see it displayed. Thank you for such a thoughtful gesture!

Snack at Ferryden Playgroup is always a special and important part of the children’s day. The children are encouraged to help select, chop and prepare healthy foods, developing independence and learning valuable life skills. Sitting together with friends in a relaxed environment provides opportunities for meaningful discussions, social interaction and building positive relationships in a safe and nurturing space.
Supporting Health and Wellbeing (HWB) is an important part of children’s growth and development, helping them develop healthy habits, confidence and a sense of belonging.

Today the children visited the town to purchase plants and visit the local florist. During our visit, we were kindly given some pots for our new greenhouse. The children are learning how to grow and care for plants as they begin planting their own sunflowers and fresh herbs.
This experience also helped support learning through real-life situations, as the children practised using money to pay for items and developed confidence in communicating with others in the community. Through this hands-on experience, the children explored early numeracy, responsibility, teamwork, and an understanding of how plants grow and are cared for.
