🚦 Safe Travels in Our Community 🚦

The children have been learning all about safe travel and road safety when we are out and about in our community.

We invited our lollipop person to visit Ferryden Playgroup and talk to the children about how to keep safe when walking near busy roads. The children listened carefully and learned about the important job of a lollipop person and how they help everyone cross the road safely.

The children were very excited to have the opportunity to hold the lollipop stick themselves and learn how it is used to stop the traffic and help pedestrians cross safely.

It was a fun and meaningful experience that helped the children develop their understanding of road safety, listening to instructions and staying safe when travelling around our community. 🚶‍♀️🚦🛑

📚 Our Story Sack Adventures at Ferryden Playgroup

At Ferryden Playgroup, we are delighted to be taking part in the Scottish Book Trust Reading Award and celebrating the joy that books, stories and sharing a book together can bring.

As part of our reading journey, we have created our very own Story Sacks! Each sack contains a favourite story along with props, puppets and little surprises to help bring the story to life.

📖 Our Learning Book

Alongside the sack we have a special learning book to share at home. This book gives families the opportunity to capture each child's own experiences with the story sack.

When the story sack returns to Ferryden Playgroup, we can share each child's experiences with their friends and use these moments to continue their learning, conversations and love of books.

🌟 Every story creates an adventure…

and every adventure creates a learning opportunity!

Happy reading and happy storytelling!

📚✨ Celebrating Reading at Ferryden Playgroup! ✨📚

Ferryden Playgroup are delighted to be participating in the Scottish Book Trust Reading Award this year! 📖💛

We love celebrating reading, discovering new books and creating exciting opportunities for our children to explore the wonderful world of stories.

Our library visits are not only about helping children fall in love with books — they also provide a relaxed, fun environment where children can take part in activities surrounded by books, stories and new experiences. 📚🌟

These experiences help to foster a deeper interest in reading and encourage children to become confident, curious and enthusiastic early readers.

At Ferryden Playgroup, we support our young readers by offering unique, meaningful experiences that bring books and stories to life. ❤️📖

Because every child deserves the opportunity to discover the magic of books! 🌈✨

I’M A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!! 😭🫶

I genuinely cannot believe I get to write this…

The Adventures of Archie: Archie Goes to New York is officially PUBLISHED and available to buy on Amazon! 🐮🗽📚

What started as a little idea has somehow turned into an actual, real-life BOOK, written and illustrated by me. And seeing my name on the cover still feels completely surreal.

There have been so many late nights, drawings, paintings, edits, tiny changes, moments of staring at the same page for far too long 😂 and a LOT of “what on earth am I doing?” along the way…

But I did it. I wrote a children’s book. I illustrated a children’s book. And now I can officially say I’m an author.

Archie’s very first adventure takes him all the way from Scotland to New York City… and let’s just say, he’s very easily distracted. 🐮😂

It’s the first book in The Adventures of Archie, and knowing that this little Highland cow is officially heading out into the world is honestly the loveliest feeling.

If you buy a copy, please send me a photo when it arrives, seeing Archie in your homes is going to absolutely make my day. ❤️

📚 Archie Goes to New York...OUT NOW on Amazon!

And apparently… I’m an author now. 😭✨

🌿🦀 A wonderful day of learning outdoors! 🪱🐚

Today the children visited the Scottish Wildlife Trust, where they had lots of fun mud dipping and searching for crabs and worms! 🦀🪱

As we explored, the children also discovered that patterns and shapes are everywhere in nature. We spotted patterns on shells, stones and even the footprints of birds! 🐚🪨🐦

Outdoor and nature experiences provide children with opportunities to develop a deeper understanding of the world around them. Today, the children were encouraged to look closely, explore, investigate and notice the wonderful shapes and patterns that can be found all around us. 🌿🔍

We were also delighted to have family members join us on our outing. It was lovely to see everyone enjoying the experience together and sharing in the children's learning. ❤️

The children represented Ferryden Playgroup with such pride and were excellent little learners today! 🌟 We are so proud of them! 💚

Today, Bookbug visited our playgroup to share the new story 'The Gruffalo's Granny.' This gave the children a fun and relaxed opportunity to enjoy books and develop their love of stories. Practitioners role-modeled positive enjoyment of reading, helping the children see reading as an enjoyable part of everyday life.

Bug Hunt 🐞

The children have been collecting ladybirds in our garden, which sparked an interest in exploring other minibeasts. We went on a bug hunt around the local park, where the children spotted and observed many different bugs in their natural habitats. They explored different environments, showing curiosity and excitement as they discovered the wonders of nature all around them.
