Abbeydale Vet Nurse Training provides high quality veterinary nurse and nurse assistant education.

Abbeydale Vetlink Veterinary Training classrooms are located at Wonastow Road Industrial Estate (East) in Monmouth on the Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Welsh borders. Easy access to road links, being only 2 mins from the A40, which has excellent access to the M50, M4 & M5 . Abbeydale delivers high quality training for veterinary nurses where student nurses study in small groups and are taught

by qualified nurses with excellent clinical and teaching experience. We also have excellent links with local experts (including veterinary physiotherapists, animal behaviourists and nutritionists) and veterinary surgeons who assist us with our clinical training. Courses: CQ Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing
January, April, and September starts

CQ Level 2 Veterinary Nursing Assistant course. Abbeydale runs revision courses for students, including theory and practical courses and mock practicals for students who could benefit from additional teaching time. For more details and an application form, please email [email protected]

🌍🐾 Last night, Lucy Gooding RVN delivered a brilliant session as part of our Preceptorship Programme, sharing her experiences of volunteering both in the UK and abroad.

Lucy spoke about how she has used her veterinary nursing skills to support both animal welfare and human health, while also giving practical advice on the different volunteering opportunities available.

From choosing reputable organisations and staying safe, to knowing what to pack — and what not to pack — the session was full of valuable, real-world insight.

A fantastic evening for anyone looking to use their nursing skills to make a wider difference. 💚

🐶🫁 Lungworm in the UK — what dog owners need to know

Lungworm, Angiostrongylus vasorum, is a parasite found in dogs across the UK. Dogs can become infected by eating infected slugs or snails, or potentially through contact with their slime.

Signs can vary and may include coughing or breathing problems, tiredness, unusual bleeding or bruising, and in some cases neurological symptoms. Because symptoms can be quite varied, veterinary advice is important if you’re concerned.

Prevention can include reducing access to slugs and snails and using a regular preventative treatment specifically licensed for lungworm, as advised by your vet.

If you suspect your dog may have lungworm, contact your veterinary practice promptly for advice and testing.
