Another day, another first time pass. Congratulations to Ben Robbie from Broughty Ferry who passed his practical driving test in Dundee. Ben’s test day was made slightly more nerve wracking than usual, because unfortunately my car developed a fault and couldn’t be used. Fortunately, he has his own car and his mum came to the rescue. The drama didn’t phase Ben in the slightest, absolutely smashed it with 1 minor. Well done Ben, sorry I couldn’t be there. All the very best with your future plans. 🚘🚘

Congratulations today, go to Andrew Scott from
Monifieth, who passed his practical driving test at DTC. This was Andrew’s first attempt, with the examiner describing it as a very nice drive. Today’s pass was the result of a lot of hard work from Andrew, both with me during lessons, but also with his parents. Something ticked off the list. Andrew, enjoy your trip to NYC, and all the best with your future plans 🚘🚘

Congratulations today, go to Grace Tennant from Tayport, who passed her practical driving test at DTC. This was Grace’s first attempt. Grace picked up lessons again, upon her return from travelling and working in Spain. Holidays and the difficulties in obtaining a test prolonged the process. Today, in spite of the nerves, Grace held it together and got the pass she deserved. Well done Grace and have a great time in New Zealand 🚘🚘

Update on the changes to the booking service
From today, your pupils can only move their test to one of the 3 nearest driving test centres to where their test is currently booked.

For existing bookings, this applies to wherever the test is booked today - not the original booking location.

For any changes made from today, the 3 nearest centres are calculated from the booked test centre at the time of any change.

Why we're doing this
Our priority is to stop learners being exploited by third parties, put them in control of their driving test and make the process fairer by clamping down on businesses that resell tests at inflated prices.

Today's location restrictions will help deter bookings at centres where learners do not intend to sit their test.

A reminder of the other changes already in place
From 31 March 2026, learners are limited to 2 changes per booking.

From 12 May 2026, only the learner can book, change, swap or cancel their own test. It’s now against the law for you or anyone else to book a test for your pupils. You’re also not allowed to change, swap or cancel a driving test for someone else.

Since 12 May, we have suspended 3,605 accounts from booking online, acted against bot use and reported apps to store providers for removal.

We will continue to monitor misuse of the system and take action against those doing so.

Thank you for your continued support in helping your pupils navigate these changes.

Today, congratulations go to Alyssa Wrigglesworth from Broughty Ferry who passed her practical driving test at DTC. Similar to yesterday’s pass, Alyssa’s journey has taken slightly longer due to the difficulty in booking practical tests. However, all her hard work and commitment has paid off with an excellent result. All the very best with your future plans 🚗🚘

Congratulations today, go to Reese Getty from Monifieth, who passed her practical driving test at DTC. Reese produced a fantastic drive and had just a single minor fault.

It’s been a slightly longer journey than normal, primarily due to the difficulty in booking a practical test, but, as a consequence, Reese has developed into a very competent driver.

Well done Reese, it was clear today how much this means to you. You put in the hard work and got the outcome you deserved. All the best with your future plans. 🚗🚗

📢 The rules for booking a practical car driving test are changing.

From 31 March 2026, learner drivers and approved driving instructors (ADIs) will only be able to change a driving test booking up to 2 times.

A change includes:
- changing the date or time
- changing the test centre
- swapping an appointment with another learner

If you’re an ADI, please make sure your pupils only book their test when they’re ready as swapping between pupils will count towards this limit. You can set times when you're available to take your pupils to their driving tests. This stops your pupils from booking tests at times that do not work for you.

👉 When this comes into force, everyone with a driving test booked will have 2 changes available, regardless of how many changes they may have already made.

This change is part of the outcome of our consultation to improve the way driving tests are booked.

Congratulations today, go to Adam Blicharski, from Broughty Ferry, who passed his practical driving test at DTC. This was Adams first attempt.

A great result today, achieved after several months of hard work and perseverance. Today’s pass will now free up some headspace to focus on your studies. Well done Adam and all the best with your future plans🚘🚘

Congratulations go to Katie Stephenson from Monifieth, who passed her practical driving test today at DTC at the first attempt, and with a near perfect drive, only a single minor fault. Katie started with a different instructor, who unfortunately couldn’t continue, so a lot of the groundwork had already been done. We hit a few plateaus along the way, but you put the work in, which has resulted in today’s achievement. Very well done from me, and all the best with your studies and future career🚘
