In June, we said farewell to our amazing drum tutor. Bill has been teaching drums for many years at Rowandale and has decided to hang up the drumsticks and take well earned retirement!

At the end of June, we gathered to celebrate, honour, and bid a very fond farewell to someone who has been a bedrock of Rowandale Integrated Primary School for an incredible 14 years—Mark McHenry. Mark hasn't just taught classes; he has shaped generations. He has guided siblings, cousins, and entire families across our community, leaving an indelible mark on every single child who has walked through his classroom door.

He truly embodies the core ethos of integrated education: inclusion, understanding, and bringing people together. He is, quite simply, an exceptional teacher.

Of course, Mark’s impact stretches far beyond his own four walls. How he managed to juggle his primary teaching duties alongside being our extraordinarily efficient Assessment Coordinator and dedicated PE Coordinator for so many years is a standard of work ethic. Whether he was meticulously crunching data to ensure no pupil slipped through the cracks, organising seamlessly run sports days, or standing on freezing sidelines coaching the football team to victory, Mark gave every single role 100%.

It comes as no surprise that Mark is so profoundly loved by the entire Rowandale community. Parents trust him implicitly, colleagues rely on his wisdom, warmth, and staffroom humour, and the pupils simply adore him.
While we are heartbroken to see him go, we could not be happier for his next chapter. Mark is moving on to become a Year 6 teacher at Millstrand Integrated, taking his incredible talents to a school much closer to his home and family. Millstrand is gaining an absolute treasure, and while our loss is immense, our gratitude for everything he has given us over the last 14 years is even greater.

Mark, thank you for your unwavering commitment, your leadership, your energy, and your friendship. You leave behind a legacy at Rowandale that will be felt for years to come. We wish you the absolute best of luck in your new adventure.
