It's great fun to join other students in honing in on musical skills! Our March Group Workshop focuses on Aural Skills. We'll be playing with listening to various aspects of melody, rhythm and sight singing. We've got some great games to play to make it all the more fun!

Working on quickly finding which note is played on the staff this week! Note geography comes much faster on stringed instruments than the keyboard. This fun activity helps though!

A huge applause for Grace and Gabriel, who sat their piano exams this week. They worked hard, braved nerves and were extremely patient while waiting to play for the examiner. Congratulations for passing!

Our Group Workshop is a little different this month, taking place during the week as we have recital recordings and preparations underway. Aural Adventures is geared towards students P4 and upwards as a way of practicing aural skils, such as singing back short melodies, identifying changes and elements in music and clapping along to the rhythm. It's a really fun component of music and we will of course be playing some games to make it even more interesting.

Our challenge board is filling up with amazing students! What we can’t see here is the progress towards the 100 day challenge, which several students have hit 50 or are really near. Keep up the great work!

This Saturday, we close out the term with a fun group workshop. Our focus will be chords, composing and pop music. How do we know which chords sound good together to make a song? How do we turn them into an actual song? And how can we make melodies to go with these chords? All these questions will be answered on Saturday morning.
