We have moved back to our old yard near California Cross. Tidying the yard today and considering where to start building my roundpen :-)

Colds with profuse mucous in horses benefit from acupressure, herbs and homeopathy.

My horses have moved onto the Moor, a step closer to my dreams:-) Gypsy and Breeze are horses that love living outside in the elements, preferably without rugs. And they have not been ill for the last 5 years. So it has been interesting to witness how after bringing them inside for a month, Gypsy got mud fever, they both got a cold with profuse thick discharge.

What surprises me more is that when people see snot from the horses nose, they panic and run to the vet for antibiotics? I understand that this may be through a lack of understanding how to treat and work with this, however antibiotics are not the answer for a simple or more advanced cold, as they always push the illness back in the body, often deeper. Antibiotics have their place, as life savers, but are in the veterinary industry overprescribed.

So, tuning into my horses and using my understanding of Chinese medicine, they are out in the field again. Back on grass rather then haylage (which is mucous forming even when soaked for 24 hours).
* Garlic, Ginger will start dilating the mucous and release the wind/cold.
* 1-2 drops of Thyme essential oil, (this will have to be top grade essential oil for human consumption, not just the stuff you buy in the shops. Oils from Young living and Oshadi are in this category)
* Rose hip will boost the immune system, as Vitamin C is poorly assimilated by horses, so the herbal variety is always better.
* Acupressure and healing: Lung 1 on the chest of the horses will strengthen the lung capacity to push the inflammation out of the lungs and Tripple heater 5 on the lateral side of the front chestnut will release the pathogen.
* Homeopathy: Pulsatilla 30c, for bringing out the profuse thick discharge.

Please note that this is not a recipe for any cold, as each horse needs to be assessed individually as all their constitution and blueprints are different. And if you don't know what you are doing, the vet is your most likely first point of reference. However the natural approach is more sustainable and always better for the animal in the long run.

Welcome to my first post, I feel creatively alive to finally be able to offer and integrate my horse facilitated process work alongside my other gifts, I look forward to the unfolding of this journey and using this medium to bring what is most precious to me. With Love, Anto.
