GCSE RESULTS DAY 2026 AT DENE MAGNA SCHOOL
Today we are incredibly proud to celebrate the achievements of our Year 11 Class of 2026. Their hard work, resilience and determination have delivered some fantastic GCSE outcomes across a wide range of subjects.
An exceptional number of top grades, including several students achieving multiple Grade 9s across their subjects, reflecting outstanding academic excellence. Katherine Beechey achieved a remarkable string of Grade 9s, while other students such as Finley Haroun, David Chandler, Olivia Farbowski and Lillie-Rose Kedward secured an impressive collection of the highest grades.
Strong performances across English, Mathematics, Sciences and Humanities, with many students securing grades 6-9 and opening doors to a wide range of post-16 pathways.
Excellent outcomes in vocational qualifications, with numerous Distinction and Distinction* grades achieved in areas such as Sport, Child Development, ICT, Product Engineering and Catering.
We are particularly proud of the progress shown by so many students who have demonstrated perseverance, overcome challenges and achieved results that reflect years of dedication and support from staff and families.
As they leave Dene Magna, our Class of 2026 can look back with pride on all they have accomplished. Whether progressing to sixth form, college, apprenticeships or employment, they leave with achievements that will serve as a strong foundation for the future.
Thank you to our staff, parents, carers and wider school community for the support you have given throughout their journey.
Congratulations, class of 2026. We are proud of every single one of you and can't wait to see what comes next!

Congratulations to Dene Magna’s Sixth Form students who have received fantastic results. The cohort achieved an overall pass rate of 97% and two thirds of all grades achieved met or exceeded a C grade. 15% of the grades achieved this year were an A or A* with 23% of the students in the cohort achieving one or more A/A* or distinction grades.

Of course, we celebrate the achievements of all our students, not just A-grade headliners. Many of our young people overcame significant challenges and achieved or exceeded their target grades, and they should be rightly proud of their new qualifications. As ever, a large proportion of our students will be making their way to university in September, studying a range of subjects from Law to Computer Science and from Medicine to Creative Writing and Sports Journalism. Sports and Fine Art students have done particularly well this year: every one of our Sport and Physical Activity students achieved either a distinction or a distinction star, while all of the Art students achieved a grade C or above, with 50% at A/A* - a fantastic achievement.

We are so proud of all our students; they have been amazing to work with for the past two years. We all wish them the very best as they take their next steps, be that university, travelling or into the workplace - we know they all have a bright and promising future ahead!

JOB ALERT: Communications and Engagement Manager for Forest of Dean Trust

Education has never been more competitive or connected, and how we communicate our values, successes and vision is vital to our future. We want more families to understand what makes our schools special, more talented professionals to see the opportunities we can offer, and more people across the Forest of Dean to engage with the work we do every day.

This role is about far more than marketing. It is about helping us tell our story, strengthening relationships with our communities and ensuring that the positive impact of our schools is seen, understood and celebrated. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupil recruitment, staff recruitment, community engagement and the continued growth of the Trust.

We are seeking someone who shares our passion for education and our belief that strong communication can make a real difference. In return, you will join a Trust that values its people, invests in professional development and encourages individuals to make a meaningful contribution.

Sixth Form notices for summer and the new school year:

NEW Year 12 students, your first day of term is on Wednesday 2nd of September - the school day starts at 08:40.
Year 13, your first day back is Thursday 3rd of September.
Both days will begin with a 'welcome back' assembly for the year group.

A-Level results day is on Thursday 13th August, and will be held at the main Dene Magna site in Mitcheldean. Students may collect their results from 08:30.
Please note that due to building works on site, the side doors will be open to allow access to the main hall (rather than via the front door). There is a small chance that the event will be held in the sports hall instead, in which case there will be signage on the day.

Wellbeing Mentors:

Chris and Hollie from Bespoke Mentoring came in to thank some of our 49 Wellbeing Mentors who supported other students across the year. Chris told our students some stories of their own around the wellbeing of people and how we can all help each other from time to time.

Our SGO Mr Beard had the idea to get Dene Magna students to support their peers within the school, and Bespoke Mentoring came in to help him form a plan at the start of the year. Our students who took up the challenge were a real credit and have helped over 40 other younger students across the year.

Well done to all involved!

On Monday evening, we held our Summer Soirée, and what a tremendous success it was! Our students were absolutely fantastic, treating everyone to some incredible performances on drums, piano and vocals, along with a couple of wonderful songs from our choir.
A huge thank you to Mrs Bendall-Burt for organising such a special evening. It was a real celebration of the talent and hard work across our Music Department, and a lovely way to round off the year.

Mr Beard offered his last Gold DofE walk for Sixth Form in the beautiful Brecon Beacons in Wales.

We had a super group of students who took on the challenge of a full day of trekking, training to see if they want to take on the full expedition in the future. They all performed very well, walking the beautiful Pen y Fan horseshoe hike with support from Miss Partridge and ex Dene Magna student Mairwen.

The weather was perfect, with red kites soaring overhead and a lovely easterly breeze to keep all cool - rounding off a good year for our Duke Of Edinburgh students. Well done to them all!
