It's that bittersweet time of the year when we send out our leavers. Matt and Stuart head off to Manchester and Portsmouth with our blessings, gratitude, and prayers for all that God has in store for them.

This year the leavers cohort was exceptionally small - photos for the next couple of years will look much busier!

This year was also slightly different in that we blessed a stole that was the college's gift to our much-missed former Academic Dean, Dorothee Bertschmann, who left us earlier in the term to return to her native Switzerland as Chaplain to the Anglican congregation in Basel. Dorothee asked that her stole be blessed at the Leaver's Mass and it was lovely to be able to do so.

It's the end of a busy term and academic year - but a few of our students were still able to head to Walsingham where they had the joy of assisting with the National Pilgrimage on an exceptionally warm day!

and that

The Reverend Dr Ryan Green
Has been appointed Dean of Pastoral Studies at the College of the Resurrection.

This weekend a few of the ordinands tried bouldering - and really enjoyed it! Many thanks to Freeklime Huddersfield, who were a bit surprised to get a group of trainee priests through their doors, but made it a memorable and fun evening.

It’s Rogationtide, the traditional season for asking God’s blessing on growing crops and those who work the land. Just before lunch, some of us joined the Community for their Rogation procession, blessing the orchard, the allotments, and the workshop.

“Remember, Lord, your mercy and loving-kindness towards us.
Bless this good earth, and make it fruitful.
Bless our labour, and give us all things needful for our daily lives.
Bless this place and all who live in it.
Bless our common life and our care for our neighbour.”

We're really pleased that the College staff will be joined by The Revd Jemma Sander-Heys as a part-time lecturer (she will spend most of her week as the parish priest of our neighbours, Christ the King Battyeford).

Jemma trained for ordination here at Mirfield 2009-2012 completing a BA and MA in theology during that time. Since 2012 she has ministered as a parish priest in rural and urban settings in Wiltshire, on the East Coast and here in West Yorkshire. Jemma is in the process of completing her PhD which she has been undertaking through the Lambeth Research Degrees in Theology programme and which centres on a systematic examination of theological anthropology and mission. Over the years Jemma has stayed in touch with Mirfield and its pattern of prayer and community life have shaped her, and her family's life as they've moved around the country. They are excited to be back in the parish of Battyeford and to be part of parish and college life again.

Thanks to ordinand Becca for this wonderful photo of our grounds.
