Bellway LAUNCHES ENID BLYTON INSPIRED SHORT STORY COMPETITON TO MARK THE OPENING OF NEW HOYLAND SHOW HOMES

Bellway Homes is inviting budding authors to let their imaginations run wild as it launches a fantasy-themed short story competition, inspired by Enid Blyton’s The Magic Faraway Tree, to celebrate the opening of its brand new show home at Woodland Walk in Hoyland on Saturday 12th September.

The theme of the competition is inspired by the development’s setting on Wood Walk, which is surrounded by mature woodland and the fact that Bellway celebrated its 80th anniversary this year – an anniversary shared with The Folk of the Faraway Tree; the third book in the prolific author’s series.

The competition is open to all ages; with entrants invited to write a fantasy or adventure story up to 500-words in length. Prizes will be awarded across three age categories – primary school, secondary school and over 18 - and each winner will receive a £50 book voucher and have their story read out for publication on Bellway’s social media channels.

Melanie Smith, sales director for Bellway Yorkshire said: “Woodland Walk has a wonderful, storybook setting - surrounded as it is by beautiful woodland, so it only felt fitting to celebrate its launch with a competition inspired by one of the most magical woodland stories as it celebrates the same anniversary as we do. We can’t wait to see the entries come flooding in and see just how creative people can get.”

To enter, all wannabe authors need to do is e-mail in their stories to [email protected] before September 7th. They’ll then need to bring their stories with them to be read at the Woodland Walk show home opening on September 13th. The winners will then be announced on the day.

The homes being built by Bellway in Hoyland feature a mix of house types from The Bellway Collection, which showcases the best in contemporary home design, while also celebrating the artisan traditions at the heart of Bellway’s rich heritage.

The 83-home development features a mix of three- and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes, with prices currently ranging from ÂŁ284,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached Chandler to ÂŁ449,995 to for a four-bedroom detached Forester.

As with all new Bellway properties, the new homes in Hoyland will be packed with the very latest in homebuilding innovations – all of which are aimed at future proofing properties and making life easier. This includes solar PV panels, EV car chargers and Smart Thermostats.

“Our aim when we develop anywhere isn’t just to build homes, it’s to build new communities and bring local people together, and this competition gives people the chance to be part of something from the very beginning of the Woodland Walk story,” added Melanie.

TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC GIVES LOCAL CHILDREN AND Bellway BUYERS A BIG SURPRISE

The Yorkshire division of national homebuilder, Bellway gave visitors to its Trident Way development in Brough a big surprise last Saturday when it hosted a teddy bear’s picnic.

The event at the development on Blenheim Avenue featured a magic show, face painter and a guest appearance from Princess Belle from Beauty and the Beast, who read stories to the teddy bear picnickers, and free ice cream for all.

Melanie Smith, Bellway Yorkshire’s sales director, said: “Homebuying decisions are always made by the grown-ups, but every family home is made by the noise and joy of the children living and growing up there and that’s what we were celebrating with the teddy bears picnic.”

“And it was a truly terrific day. The children loved the chance to rule the roost and some of the bigger kids joined in as well! The oohs and aahs at the magician’s tricks certainly weren’t restricted to the little ones.”

All the children who attended brought along their favourite teddy bears and were given the chance to win a new cuddly friend from Harrods. With Annabelle from Brough having her bear judged the cutest by Princess Belle and a visiting giant teddy.

Bellway’s Trident Way is part of the £200million Brough South project and will feature 166 homes when complete. It’s aimed at appealing to a wide cross section of buyers – from first timers to downsizers; growing families to empty nest couples; and features a mix of two-, three-, four- and five- bedroom detached and semi-detached homes. All homes feature EV chargers and solar panels and come with either designated parking, driveways or garages.

Prices at the development currently range from ÂŁ234,995 for a three-bedroom semi detached up to ÂŁ399,995 for a four-bedroom detached home and each home being built is fully teddy bear friendly.
