Who are Channel Adventure?

Channel Adventure is a community-focused outdoor adventure organisation based right here in the South West of England and our mission is simple: to make the outdoors accessible, inclusive, and enriching for everyone.

From kayaking and paddleboarding along the canal to team-building and bushcraft, every experience we run helps build confidence, resilience, and a love for the natural world.

As a Community Interest Company, we reinvest our profits to support schools, community groups, and individuals who might not otherwise get the chance to experience outdoor activities — because adventure should be for everyone. 💚

Why every young person should try archery! 🎯

Archery isn’t just about hitting the target — it’s about focus, patience, and confidence. It’s a fun, accessible sport that challenges both the mind and body, helping children develop coordination and problem-solving skills.

Whether part of a youth club, school group, or Scouts/Guides, archery brings everyone together. It teaches teamwork, encourages positive competition, and gives every participant a sense of achievement when they see their arrow land closer to the bullseye. 🙌

It’s suitable for all abilities and provides a calm, focused environment that helps improve concentration and self-belief — all while having a great time!

Adventure and new challenges! 🎯🧗‍♀️

Last week, Channel Adventure hosted a YMCA Day Camp in Bridgwater for an action-packed half-term with young adventurers aged 4–11.

From testing their aim in archery, exploring the dark in caving and taking on the indoor climbing wall - even blindfolded for an extra challenge!

It was an incredible day full of fun and confidence-building, we can’t wait for the next adventure!

Indoor climbing is a workout for both the body and mind! 🧗‍♀️

It helps build strength and endurance, while also helping focus and problem-solving skills as each route becomes a puzzle to crack. 🧩

Climbing is also a great way to relieve stress and connect with others, creating a fun, supportive community where everyone cheers each other on.

Whether it’s tackling fears or reaching new heights, climbing helps young people grow in confidence and resilience.

The Annual SASP Photo Competition 25 that will eventually result in next year's Getting Outside in Somerset Calendar 2026 is now open! 📸

The objective being to showcase the glorious outdoor environment Somerset has to offer and encourage people to get outside and savour it. 💚📅 Whilst all manor of outdoor photos (landscapes, animals, weather events etc) are encouraged, the judges this year will give a slight extra weighting to photos that highlight people being active or places to be active.

Entry is open to all, pictures with smartphones are perfect. In order to ensure the highest quality printing, please ensure that you choose the highest format available when emailing entries, ideally at least 750kb. The only rules are:

➡️ Photos must feature Somerset and it's outdoor environment
➡️ The photo must be yours
➡️ Any person identifiable in the photo must have given permission for it's entry and possible publication.
➡️ Email your entries to Stewart Collins at [email protected]. There is no limit to the number of entries any person can make.

Happy snapping, and most importantly enjoy your walks and activity and encourage others to come with you!

*Deadline for entries: Midnight Sunday 16th November and we anticipate the Calendar being available for purchase by the beginning of December. All profits from the Calendars will go to the Beacon Cancer Care Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital.
