🧬What have we been learning in Science this week?🧬
🚀To Infinity and Beyond! Celebrating World Space Week in Science
Our Science Department has been celebrating World Space Week 🌔 with a range of exciting activities designed to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists and explorers.
Students have been testing their knowledge with space-themed quizzes, tackling crosswords and word searches packed with astronomical facts, and getting creative by designing and building their own rockets in KS3 Science Club. It has been fantastic to see so much enthusiasm, teamwork, and scientific thinking on display as students explored the wonders of our universe and celebrated humanity's achievements in space exploration.
🔬Name That Apparatus
Our students have been taking on the "Name That Apparatus" challenge, identifying laboratory equipment and explaining what it is used for.
This isn't just a fun game. Recognising apparatus and understanding its purpose is an essential practical skill assessed throughout all key stages of science, where students are expected to interpret experiments, select appropriate equipment and evaluate practical methods.
From microscopes 🧪 to measuring cylinders, our students are building the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed both in the laboratory and in their examinations.
👀 Keep checking the Science Corridor for new apparatus and fresh challenges throughout the year. You never know what piece of equipment might appear next!
Be honest... could you tell your burette from your measuring cylinder? 🧫
