During House Lead lesson we realised that the Enigma students with the most house points were all from 7EA2.🙂

Why do we have a house points system though? House points serve as an excellent way of cultivating a sense of camaraderie and healthy competition among students. They also play a pivotal role in encouraging positive conduct and driving achievement within the educational environment.

Congratulations go out to Harriet, Amber, Sophie, Destiny, Farhaan, Dexter, Hayden, Libby and Lucas!👏👏👏

Mrs Sousa and Mrs Van Biljon are super proud of you!🥰🤩

WOW! The 5D Baccalaureate deadline landed on Monday, and we officially counted 144 projects that arrived. We included highlights of some of the amazing work that our learners have submitted.

Please note, the Baccalaureate awards effort and involvement and is for ‘all learners’. Mrs Jobling and Mr Hughes will be certificating our learners in due course, and each child has received feedback via teams.😊 A massive congratulations to those that have crossed the first hurdle!🥳🥳🥳

Should you wish your child to be involved, please contact Mrs Jobling directly.

And one final post about Drop Down Day and what our Year 8 students got up to last week.

Y8 students were focused on biodiversity, ecosystems and conservation. Students were able to participate in several activities arranged by The Parks Trust, sampling species of plants and learning about conservation of habitats and food webs.

They also paid tribute to World Ocean Day (8 June) and learned about ocean acidification and how it impacts on both biodiversity and our food. Students then went on to create their own triorama models of habitats. These are 3D paper craft shaped into a pyramid to display a project.

The photos capture the essence of their full-on day. It’s days like these that remind us of the beauty and complexity of our natural world. Let’s nurture this curiosity and continue to educate ourselves about the importance of preserving our planet’s biodiversity. Every action counts!

We've just announced our school's production of The Addams Family Musical!

Check out our event page for all the eerie details and make sure to hit that 'going' button.

It's going to be an unforgettable show with our talented cast and crew, so spread the word amongst your families and let's fill the auditorium with applause!

You can grab your tickets from Arbor and look forward to a night where creepy and kooky come alive!🖤

Ashtyn, a former Product Design student popped in this week, to reminisce with her teachers and also collect her A Level coursework. It was lovely seeing her and talking to her about her course and the fantastic time she is having at Loughborough University.

Our students continue to engage in games at break and lunch times. They are now even bringing their own in!! It's great to see them sitting having conversations and playing table games, rather than being fixated on their phones. Thank you parents and carers for supporting us! It's making a huge difference in the quality of their social times and social skills.

We want to extend our warmest wishes to all the amazing dads out there! Whether you're helping with homework, attending school events, or simply being a loving presence, your impact is immeasurable. Thank you for everything you do! We hope you're having a wonderful day.🎉🎉🎉

The response to the 5D Baccalaureate has been phenomenal. Mr Hughes and I have received submissions from nearly 100 learners before the deadline. We eagerly await the remaining projects on Monday 17 June. The Food project has been particularly popular, featuring some incredible dishes and shared photographs.

We want every learner to have this fantastic opportunity, and we really want to encourage all families to participate and contribute towards this qualification.

Only one week remaining to hand in your science fair projects; please make sure they are handed in to the science prep room before the end of the day on Friday 21 June, to be in with a chance of winning an Amazon voucher.

Finalists will be invited to present their projects at the fair on Wednesday 3 July, where students can vote for their favourites. We are excited to invite any guests in after school who would like the see the hard work and effort put in by our students. Winners will be announced at 4pm.

Good Luck to all and we look forward to seeing you there!

Time is ticking on and there are only three weeks left to complete your science fair projects before Friday 21 June - we are very excited to see what students have been working on. It is not too late to start a project if you want to get involved; the Science Fair support club will run every Tuesday after school for the next three weeks, in F4, if anyone wants any further guidance.

Due to the announcement of the general election, the Science Fair has been brought forward to Wednesday 3 July. The event will continue after school if anyone would like to come and see all of the brilliant work that has been going on this year in science. Winners will be announced at 4pm.

Please contact Mrs Chamberlain-McGinn if you have any questions.

Wishing lots of luck to everyone taking part!

Yesterday's Drop Down Day saw our Year 7s off to Stratford-upon-Avon for a tour of the Bard's hometown. Here are some photos of them in The Play's The Thing exhibition which offers a unique discovery of more than 100 years of theatre-making magic.

This year the exhibition includes costumes worn by Ian McKellen as King Lear (King Lear 2007) and Alex Kingston as Prospero (The Tempest, 2023) plus more.

It certainly gave our Year 7s a moment to absorb the essence of different characters beyond the stage; to realise that creativity knows no bounds; and it whispered, “What if?” encouraging our students to dream, create, and express themselves boldly.

Thursday 6 June was our second anti-bullying awareness Colour Run and it proved to be every bit as successful and as enjoyable as last year's. Over 190 Year 7s took part, and they made the event amazing and colourful! Well done Y7s! 👏👏👏

Every student who took part in our Colour Run 2024 signed the Anti-Bullying pledge adding their name to the hundreds of students who have already made the commitment to help drive bullying out of school and be an ‘upstander not a bystander’.

It is our wish to make the Anti-Bullying Awareness Colour Run an event that all Year 7 students have, enjoy and most importantly remember (perhaps some pictures will even make an appearance in the year book in 5 years time😉).

Yesterday was our Drop Down Day.

What is Drop Down Day? It is an off-timetable day that replaces classroom lessons with activities used to strengthen students' practical application of skills and provide a deeper learning experience and go beyond the normal curriculum.

Our Year 10 geographers embarked on human geography fieldwork by going to Stratford, East London.

They explored the impacts of urban regeneration in the area, focussing on the changes made to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park since the 2012 Olympics. The geographers were collecting valuable data focussing on the quality of the environment, facilities, and people’s perception of the area. This data will help them to build their geographical knowledge of the area, for what is a vital case study in their GCSE.

The students showed a level of maturity beyond their years, and relished the opportunity to collect high-quality geographical data, which even involved speaking to members of the public! Every student was an embodiment the 5Cs throughout the day, and it was a privilege to see them in action.🤩

The photos show our students hard at work collecting data, as well as some high-quality “testing of the local facilities” (that’s how they labelled it!) and even a chance encounter with a Eurovision winner who was house hunting in the East Village! It was an amazing day for all students and staff involved, and we look forward to the same next year!

With just one week to go until on Wednesday 19 June, here's a reminder to send a free personalised card to express your gratitude to teachers, support staff, and anyone who contributes to making school life a rewarding experience.

Y10 Philosophy & Ethics students visited Shrewsbury Prison today as part of their ethical studies on Religion, Crime & Punishment.

Students learnt about HMP Shrewsbury and its history since it was established in 1793. They enjoyed a workshop on the aims of punishment and how these have changed over time.

Students also had the opportunity to tour the prison and explore grounds, including the ex*****on room and women’s prison.

Students thoroughly enjoyed their time and experience at Shrewsbury Prison!

Baccalaureate Update - New Deadline - Monday 17 June!

We are thrilled to share a piece of work by one of our Year 8 students. Christian chose the Food Baccalaureate project and delved into the culinary wonders of Japan. With some assistance at home, he baked the most delicious Black Sesame Cookies which his entire family enjoyed.

Well done, Christian! 👏👏👏
We're intrigued about these cookies now. They turned out scrummy-looking😋😋🥰
