This month's blog post by Dr Anita Devi continues our Summer theme on and takes us back through a journey in time ... the last 20 years to be precise!

Between 2006-2010 nasen held national poetry competitions on the theme of Connecting this project in with and the Global Equality Collective contribution earlier this week, Anita invites us to consider inclusion through the eyes of children (back then), but adults now. A sample of their expressive creativity has been included. Hopefully this helps put the bigger picture into perspective, in the now!

Continuing our editorial theme of Communication this term, this 4-minute read by Nicky Quinton is worthy of your attention.

Entitled, "SENCO Communication: Are We Moving Too Fast for Understanding?" Nicky unpacks the pace and volume of communication that hinders true understanding in schools.

An exert: "Communication in schools is rarely just about information. It is about pace, pressure, interpretation, emotion, timing and trust. It is about how human beings attempt to navigate increasingly busy systems without losing one another along the way. Perhaps one of the greatest challenges in modern education is that communication now moves faster than understanding."

We are pleased to share the submission to the DfE consultation on the Reforms has been filed.

Our 32-page response includes reference material, evidence, case studies, feedback and cross connections between questions. Our lens has been three fold:

Our values: we care, we challenge, we contribute

Our mission: developing people, growing organisations and strengthening localities

Our vision: everyone thriving in education, employment and life

In addition, we have submitted a 7 page analysis from the (May 2026) This was in partnership with GovNet (the event organisers).

Over the last 12 weeks, we have co-ordinated and participated in several open dialogues with various stakeholders across the sector, in different locations nationally. This has been a dedicated 'Labour of Love' by our CEO / Founder Dr Anita Devi as she agrees whole heartedly with a singular comment by The Department, "This is our opportunity to get it right." This does not mean, by any stretch of the imagination, that we agree with the proposals of The SEND White Paper or indeed how the whole process has been facilitated by the government.

We would like to thank everyone who has engaged in open dialogue with us.
Now we actively wait.
