ADHD Tip: Create Predictable Routines

Children with ADHD often find it easier to manage everyday tasks when they know what to expect.

Simple routines for mornings, homework and bedtime can reduce stress and make transitions smoother.

Try using:
✅ A visual timetable
✅ A consistent order of activities
✅ Gentle reminders before changing tasks

Routines don’t need to be rigid—they simply provide a reliable structure that helps children feel more organised and confident.

Small, consistent routines can make a big difference over time.

ADHD Tip: Praise the Effort, Not Just the Outcome

Many children with ADHD hear far more corrections than compliments throughout the day.

Instead of waiting for a task to be completed perfectly, try noticing the effort:

✅ “I noticed you started your homework straight away.”

✅ “Well done for coming back to finish that.”

✅ “You worked really hard on that.”

Positive feedback helps build confidence, motivation and resilience. Children are more likely to repeat behaviours that receive attention and encouragement.

Sometimes the biggest step forward is simply recognising the effort it took to try.

🧠 ADHD Tip for Parents: Focus on One Step at a Time

Children with ADHD can often feel overwhelmed when given multiple instructions at once.

Instead of:
❌ "Get dressed, brush your teeth, pack your bag and come downstairs."

Try:
✅ "First, put on your clothes."
Then move to the next step.

Breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps can reduce frustration, improve cooperation, and help children experience success.

Every child develops differently, and small adjustments can make a big difference.
