It can be difficult finding ways to increase your daily activity. A full time job, children and other commitments take up so much of our time every day 🤯 However finding the time to get outside, with a bit of exercise and the fresh air is so beneficial. Both physically and mentally! 💪🧘‍♀️

We encourage all our clients to include some form of physical activity, outside of gym workouts, as part of their weekly schedule.

This is such a good quote. People are so prone to convincing others, or themselves, that they can't do something. How often do we hear things like: "I don't have the time" "I don't have the energy" "I can't fit it in" "I have too much going on" "I'm too tired".

Quit focussing on your obstacles or challenges and start refocussing that energy on finding the solutions. If you really want to do something, you'll find the time, energy and place to do it 🤷‍♂️💯💪

These would be our top 3 diet changes to make the biggest difference 💯💪

You know what they say about the 80/20 rule. You can get 80% of the results from 20% of the change. This is a great place to start 👌

We don't believe in radical strict diets, rather sustainable positive changes. So start with these three simple things 🍽️

1️⃣ Eat more veggies - Besides being full of fibre, vitamins & minerals, veggies tend to be fairly low in calories. However they are still bulky. This kind of low calorie voluminous food fills your belly without adding lots of calories to your diet. Full belly, less calories, less hunger - less likely to binge or snack on high calorie foods.

2️⃣ Eat more protein - Protein is the building block of your body. It builds & repairs tissue. More lean mass (muscle) burns more calories at rest. Who doesn't want to burn more calories sat on the sofa? Protein also digests slower, therefore making you feel fuller for longer and less likely to snack.

3️⃣ Drink more water - Your body is mostly made of water. Therefore it's not surprising that a well hydrated body feels & works better. Sometimes thirst and hunger can feel similar, so having a glass of water may make you not feel so hungry. Having a glass of water before a meal may also cause you to eat less at that meal. Another huge benefit of drinking lots of water, that people don't speak about much, is that it stops you drinking high calorie alternatives. Some drinks contain as much sugar and sometimes even as many calories as a meal.

Any diet that is going to deliver long term success needs to be sustainable. Weight gain is the result of consuming excess calories for a prolonged period of time. So, if you diet for 3 months and then go straight back to your old habits, you'll put the weight straight back on.

This is where all the fad diets, weight loss shakes & magic potions fall down. They have no consideration for how you go back to normal life at the end. Are you really willing to replace a meal per day with a £3 shake for the rest of your life?

Solution? You need to change your habits, educate yourself & create a sustainable plan...

I believe these are the most important factors to achieving your fitness goals:

Weight training - Adding some muscle is crucial to building a good physique. It increases your metabolism therefore helping you burn more calories each and every day. Being stronger helps you feel better & more confident 🏋️‍♀️

Staying active - Essential for burning a few more calories, keeps your body moving and feeling good, great for mental health and hormonal balance 🏃‍♀️

More protein - Helps repair & build from your weight training sessions. Also, reduces how fast your food gets digested & makes you feel fuller for longer. So you're less likely to snack on unhealthy & high calorie foods 🥙

More veg - High volume & low calorie foods help you fill your stomach therefore curbing hunger without the excess calories making you put on body fat 🥗

Plan - Have a workout plan so that you know exactly what you are going to be doing in the gym. This makes it easy to follow and makes you less likely to slack or give up. Ensuring that you have a good workout each and every time 👌

Record - Make a note of what you have done during each workout so that you can review this and push yourself to progress. Extra weight, more reps, less rest time, better form. All these contribute to your body adapting and push you closer to your goals ✍️
