Year 5 enjoyed taking a step back into the past last week, during an historical visit to Warwick Castle. The children experienced many wonderful activities including rampart walking, bird shows, archery, Viking displays, castle exploration and of course, the shop!

Our Reception children had an exciting visit to Rushmere Country Park as part of their new topic 'Fantasy and Adventure'. They explored the fairy forest using their treasure maps, searching for the fairy doors hidden within. The children created their own fairy colour palettes to support their art work in the classroom and made their own fairy gardens. They found the Giant's chair but thankfully escaped without meeting him!

Year 2 enjoyed a trip to experience the various habitats in Rushmere Country Park. They spotted heron nests in the trees, went on a sound walk through the woods and looked for minibeasts in the woodland and meadow habitats.

Our Year 1 children became Wildlife Detectives during an engaging workshop at Stanwick Lakes. Working in pairs, the children built tracking tunnels and used a wildlife-friendly charcoal solution to capture the footprints of any animals that passed through. We can't wait to try this out at school!

The children explored with magnifying glasses and identification sheets, searching for clues left behind by local wildlife and discovered footprints, feathers, burrows, scrapes and holes, using their detective skills to investigate the natural world around them.

Last Friday, our U11A boys scored an impressive victory at the IAPS Cricket Tournament at Bishop's Stortford College!

We remained unbeaten through five games and also won the 'Catch of the Tournament'. A convincing win by 14 runs in the final, showed the outcome of all the hard work and dedication they have put in throughout the year.

Well done boys!

To further enhance MKPS's already flourishing extra-curricular sports opportunities, 21 pupils attended an exciting golf taster session at 1Iron Golf in Milton Keynes. The children had full use of the excellent facilities, with six different bays available, each focusing on a key aspect of the game. Throughout the session, the children were supported by a PGA golf professional, who provided expert coaching and guidance to help develop their skills and understanding of golf.

The session was a great success, with the children demonstrating enthusiasm, determination, and a willingness to try something new and following this positive first experience, some Years 4 and 5 children have been offered the chance to continue attending the golf club for the rest of the term. We look forward to seeing our young golfers continue to develop their skills as part of our sporting provision and enjoy all the benefits that this exciting sport has to offer!
