☀️This weather has been perfect for opening the doors to our 🪱worm house and next week our own mini butterfly house! 🦋
We love to look at minibeasts and will be keeping 10 juicy wiggly worms with us for a whole month. They have layers of sand, moist soil and some dried leaves to keep them occupied during their stay with us. We will be talking about how they move, learning some interesting facts about them like how they breathe and what they eat. We’ll also be observing them with magnifying glasses and can’t wait to see where the discussions lead us 🔎
Looking for minibeast, has us digging in the garden and having great fun making mud pies! Mmmm.

The joke is on Elephant when he wants to know.
Who gave him a fright when they let one go?
A grumbling tummy and a thunderous rip.
But who in the jungle just let one slip?
Lets talk about the Elephant in the room.
Read together, laugh together.
An outrageous comedy to tickle your child's sense of humour.
Available on Amazon! 🥰

Exploring light and dark can be very exciting for little ones. We created a dark den snug and had out some of our sensory lights and our light box and letters 🔦
With the older children we focused on letter recognition and sounds, touching on familiar words and the letters within them. The little ones enjoyed the sensory experience and excitement of the lights 🔦
This light panel can be used in so many ways and we can’t wait to show you the different things we get up to with it 💫

It is important to provide opportunities to support childrens interest in stories and rhymes. They are a great aid to build communication and langauage skills and introduce new topics for discussion. Today we visited our local Library which has a large selection of early readers story and picture books 📖
Here children built on their knowledge of holding books carefully as we took our time to look through them and encouraged skills such as turning the pages one by one. Older children recognise some familiar words as we enjoyed the story ‘Owl Babies’ 🦉and ‘Spot’ the Dog 🐾

With the sunshine out ☀️, we headed out to our local nature park. Here we found lots of different birds and insects, we spent time observing and talking about them.🐞 By the lake we watched a Heron fishing, and found frog sculptures playing instruments 🐸
We used natural items that we found as part of our imaginative play - sticks, daisies, large stones, blossom and long grass! Children practised their fine motor skills to balance some sticks we found against the tree until they toppled over and also had great fun pulling the bark off the sticks 🌳🌸
It was lovely to see the Daffodils growing in abundance and new shoots on the trees, this makes us so excited as we enter a new season 🌼
