Year 6 are investigating rates of reaction in Science by creating their own mini lava lamps using oil, water and Alka-Seltzer tablets.

They compared how quickly their lamps bubbled when topped up with hot or cold water, exploring how temperature can affect the speed of a reaction and why this happens. Science bubbling into action!

We’re delighted to welcome Mr Oliver Parker to The Stowe Group as our new Prep School Chaplain.

Mr Parker will be a familiar face across Ashfold, Swanbourne House and Wi******er House, leading chapel services, and teaching Humanities and Games as part of school life.

As well as providing opportunities to explore and understand the Christian faith, pupils and staff of all faiths and backgrounds will benefit from Mr Parker's pastoral care and support.

We are thrilled to have him as part of our community and look forward to introducing him properly in the first newsletter of the term.

Let battle commence!

Our much loved end of term water fight took place on Wednesday, bringing together staff and pupils for a fun-filled re-enactment of a famous battle from history, this year inspired by the Battle of Cannae.

There was plenty of splashing, soaking and strategic manoeuvring as both sides battled bravely, accompanied by lots of laughter. A fantastic afternoon of fun in the sun.

Year 1 and 2 children have been learning about life cycles during our Wildlife and Ecology Club.

Over the past few weeks, they have carefully nurtured caterpillars and enjoyed observing their remarkable transformation. They have now released the butterflies into the Swanbourne grounds to thrive and continue their life cycle in their natural environment.

Chapel Lawn was dotted with benches and picnic rugs on Monday as families gathered to enjoy our Summer Music Concert. Aptly named Swans in the Park, the event moved outdoors for the first time this year, and what a wonderful occasion it proved to be.

Pupils performed with confidence and energy throughout, with a real highlight being the Combined Choir, as children from Year 2 to Year 8 came together in song. It was a truly special moment and a great way for the Swanbourne community to come together and celebrate in this final week of term.

This week we decided to 'Drop Everything and Read'!

The whole school came together outside to celebrate a shared love of reading. Staff and pupils across all year groups enjoyed a wide range of books, from fascinating non-fiction and timeless classics to modern favourites.

It was wonderful to see pupils sharing their favourite stories, discovering new reads and immersing themselves in the joy of a good book.

Our Year 8 pupils enjoyed an action-packed day of campfire adventures, taking part in a variety of exciting team-building activities designed to challenge, inspire and build confidence.

Throughout the day they worked in small groups to learn how to tie knots, construct shelters and use different materials to safely build, light and maintain a fire to cook over.

Pupils developed valuable communication, problem-solving and leadership skills, stepping outside their comfort zones while supporting one another every step of the way.
