💙 Eaton Mill Nursery Parents & Carers 💙

​We hope you are having a wonderful half-term break! When we return, our new, one-week mini-topic will be Our NHS 🩺🚑

​Throughout our first week back, our 2 to 4-year-olds will be learning all about the wonderful doctors, nurses, paramedics and healthcare heroes who help keep us safe and well.

The children will explore this through role-play, stories and creative activities as we set up our very own EMN mini-clinic in the home corner!

​How you can get involved:

​Do you work for the NHS? If any of our parents or family members are NHS workers, we would love to hear from you to help bring this special one-week topic to life for the children!

​Share on Tapestry: Please continue to use Tapestry to share photos of your children practicing their doctor and nurse skills at home with their toys, or even being brave at a real medical or dentist appointment.

​We can't wait to welcome all of our busy learners back into the setting!

🥕 Healthy Eating Week at Eaton Mill Nursery! 🍓

We have had an incredibly busy and delicious week exploring all things nutritious with our wonderful nursery children! Here is a peek at some of the fantastic sensory and creative activities we set up to help the children build a positive relationship with healthy food:

Creative Snack Time: We made healthy choices fun by designing our own silly fruit faces using slices of kiwi, strawberries, and oranges.

Harvesting the Veggie Patch: The children loved digging into our sensory soil tuff tray with their little spades and rakes. They worked hard to "harvest" an array of real vegetables straight from the dirt, including potatoes, corn on the cob, broccoli, parsnips and cauliflower.

Cooking Up a Storm: Following our "Let's make vegetable Soup!" recipe station, the children put on their aprons and got straight to work. Using pots, pans, measuring spoons and a big jug of "broth," they practiced their mixing and pouring skills to combine their chopped veggies into a delicious imaginary soup.

Next Week’s Topic is Healthy Eating! 🍏🥦

Next week at Eaton Mill Nursery, our little ones will be exploring the delicious and colourful world of healthy eating! We will be learning all about different fruits and vegetables, trying out some new tastes and talking about the fantastic foods that help us grow big and strong.

How you can join in at home:

- Speak with your child about their favourite healthy snacks and meals over the weekend.

- We would love it if you could upload a photo to your child's Tapestry journal of them helping to prepare a healthy meal, washing vegetables or simply enjoying their favourite fruit.

Looking at these photos together during group time is a brilliant way to encourage the children to talk about food and get excited about trying new things with their friends. We can't wait to see what healthy treats you enjoy trying this weekend! 🍓🥕

Next Week's Topic: People Who Are Special to Me! 💖

Next week at Eaton Mill Nursery, our children will be exploring the wonderful topic of "People who are special to me." To help bring this to life, we would love your help!

We are encouraging all parents and carers to share some family photos with us. Looking at these pictures is a fantastic way for the children to talk about their loved ones, build communication skills and share their home life with their friends during our group times.

How you can share your photos:

Upload to Tapestry: You can easily upload a few of your favourite family photos directly to your child's Tapestry journal over the weekend.

Bring them in: Alternatively, you are very welcome to bring physical copies into the nursery with you next week.

We can't wait to see all those special faces and hear the wonderful stories the children have to share! 🏡✨

What a wonderful first week back it has been!

Since opening our doors on Tuesday, it has been an absolute joy to see all of our brilliant 2 to 4-year-olds settling straight back into their routines so beautifully.

The rooms are completely buzzing with play, laughter and learning again.

​A quick reminder for parents of our older nursery children: if your little one is due to start primary school next year, the application window for September 2027 Reception places is now officially open.

🧊 Beat the 37°C heat - The Ice Rescue! 🧊

​It is going to be an absolute scorcher in Bletchley today! If you need a way to keep your little ones cool during the hottest part of the afternoon, we highly recommend setting up one of our nursery favourites.

​As you can see from this throwback photo, our little learners absolutely love an "Ice Rescue" challenge!

​Prep it now!

🔠 Grab a plastic tub, drop in some small plastic toys (letters, shapes, or figures work perfectly!), fill it with water, and pop it in the freezer this morning.

🧊 By the afternoon when the heat is peaking, pop the ice block in a washing-up bowl or a tray in the shade.

🔨 Give them some warm water in a squeezy bottle or a toy hammer, and let them "rescue" their toys!

​It is fantastic for sensory play, fine motor skills, and keeping them cool when it's too hot for the park.

Let's go on a garden scavenger hunt! 🌳🔍

​Getting outside and exploring is a wonderful way for our little learners to discover the world around them.

We challenge our nursery explorers to head out into the garden or over to the local park this week to find:

​🍂 A crunchy brown leaf
🪨 A smooth stone
🌼 A yellow flower
🌿 A tiny twig

​Looking for some local fun to keep the children entertained this week? ☀️🌳

​The Milton Keynes Play Association have released their schedule of Summer Play Events for this week (10th - 14th August), and it includes a stop right here in Bletchley at Leon Rec on Monday afternoon!

​From park play to slip & slides, there is loads going on across MK to keep them busy. (Just remember that all children must be accompanied by an adult!)

Happy National Playday! 🎉🧸

​Here at Eaton Mill Nursery, we know that play is the absolute best way for children to learn, grow and make sense of the world around them.

​While our busy little learners are currently enjoying the summer break, the learning doesn't stop!

Whether they are building forts in the living room, digging in the mud at a local playground or getting messy with some arts and crafts, unstructured play is so important for two to four year-olds.
