Today in Early Years the children took part in expressive painting on bread. They discussed how they felt during the activity and we concluded that it made us all feel calm.
The children then enjoyed the bread toasted for their morning snack. Delicious art work! 🥰

We were fortunate in Early Years to have Mrs Antony’s pet rabbit visit us this morning, as part of our topic ‘Amazing Animal’s’. The children demonstrated gentle hands, patience and respect. They learnt how to care for rabbits and made sensible guesses at what food it may eat. Thank you Mrs Antony and Coby the rabbit. 🐰

Wonderful morning at today’s stay and play. The children explored lots of activities around feelings and emotions. We finished the session listening to the story of ‘The Colour Monster’.

Today’s mystery reader in Early years was the fabulous author Heather Burnett. The children were mesmerised with the reading of Heather’s new book ‘Charlie’s Bedtime Monsters’.
We are very grateful to Heather for donating a copy to us. If you would like to purchase a copy follow the link on Amazon. 🥰

We’ve been using the book ‘Tiger who came to Tea’ as our learning inspiration this week. Today we made ‘buns’. The children used balancing scales to measure the ingredients and used their muscles to mix.
They commented on the smell being ‘yummy’ as we were mixing.
Of course they tasted delicious. Well done Early Years. You are super bakers. 🧁

Little snippet of part of our day in Early Years. We ended the day with some Teddy breathing/meditation. As you can see it really helped the children relax, so much so one fell asleep. 😊 Enjoy the weekend all. ❤️

Following on from yesterdays learning in Early Years, the children were amazed by their ‘ice sculptures’. We watched them throughout the day and discussed what could cause them to melt.
Some were a little sad they would not last forever. Isn’t nature such a beautiful resource. ❄️

This afternoon, we used the weather as our learning inspiration in Early Years. The children used their fine motor skills to dismantle the flowers and prepare a design. We then poured water into the bowl. The children talked about what they thought might happen to the water as the weather became cold overnight. They left school excited to see what they’ll find in the morning. ❄️

Inspired by the book ‘Owl babies’ the children in reception/nursery were creative with their snack. During this adult led activity the children practised cutting and spreading skills, we counted and we discussed the main features of an owl (beak, wings, feathers).
They all had a go and had a little help when it became a bit tricky. 😉
What’s more they all enjoyed snack a little more this morning. 🥰
Have a lovely weekend all.

The children in Reception/Nursery spent time this week thinking of a name for their new class bear. We narrowed it down to Lucy or Lily. The children then voted on their name preference. We had some lovely discussions around this and some super use of mathematical vocabulary and counting. They could clearly see the name with the most vote.
Miss Lily Bear is looking forward to her first sleepover this weekend. I wonder what family she will stay with?🤔🥰
